Just got back from helping out with EMT training :D
Today was this class's first day running full scenarios. The ducklings (as one of the instructors put it, I later found out he watches House, ah haha) were so timid :P. I was playing someone with an ankle injury. Check out the knarly moulage below. I posted a picture of it on Facebook and people freaked out. Ah haha9 comments1 day 11 hours ago

Boiling the roommate's towel...
...while she's gone for the weekend. I thought it was just me for the longest time, but my friends have recently assured me that they were repulsed by the smell too. For some reason, my roommate's towels, especially her face towel, perpetually smells of rank B.O. No, not just normal intense B.O., but sour too. And somehow, she just keeps using it, while the smell makes me gag and my eyes water. The worst part is, she always leaves the bathroom door closed, even right after she showers and it's still rather humid in the bathroom. We don't have a window in there either. I've asked her to leave the door open of course, but she dismissed me. The smell gets so bad sometimes that it even clings to my towels D:
Anyway, she's gone for the weekend, and I read online that using boiling water with a mix of vinegar can help with getting rid of bad odors. Here's to hopin' it works!13 comments2 days 13 hours ago

Hai.
I'm finally getting around to rereading/finishing a book on snap judgements (thin-slicing) called Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. In it, he talks about this website by some Harvard researches that test your unconscious associations; things like inherent racism. The website is https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/ You should check it out!
I took the test for associations with European Americans vs. African Americans and got "little to no preference for one over the other," so yay! But when I took the European Americans vs. Asian Americans test, somehow I ended with a slightly stronger association of Americans with Asian Americans, and foreign with European Americans. I also took one on major religions, and apparently, my unconscious lumps all the major religions together right in the middle. Not positive nor negative. Woop woop for an unbiased unconscious! On the walk back to my apartment after classes and office hours.
Those were actually my first ever voluntary office hours. They were for philosophy, an appropriately, my GSI is super chill :P0 comments4 days 18 hours ago

Lots of work due.
Everyone keeps ranting to me/telling me stuff. Which is fine. A little odd, especially after I found out I was pretty much the only one. But meh.0 comments5 days 10 hours ago

Oh maroon Chucks, how I've missed you so.
Something about maroon... I just really like that color.
Just finished a lengthy discussion about varying topics with a friend. We were planning this fun-ish discussion too, so yay. Also went to a recommendation letter workshop today. That was pretty helpful. The professor talking about it was hilarious. I kind of want to audit his class now...

I made a thing!
I finally have, in my possession, a directional mic, which means homg nice audio. I also have an account on this website called hitRECord which is essentially Joseph Gordon-Levitt's open platform production company that's a really good idea and has churned out some awesome projects, but hard to run. I've had an account for some time but I didn't really go on it much until this school year. And now finally, back to my original point.
Someone who goes by the name sexymoustache wrote a fantastic monologue called "Supermarket Monologue," which you can find here: http://hitrecord.org/records/505112
I decided to record a VoiceOver for it since I kept on imagining Dave Matthews' voice as I read it on my mind and thought, hey, I'll give it a try. So that's the thing I made and you can find that here: http://hitrecord.org/records/6634502 comments1 week 16 hours ago

It's been a blah sort of day.
Been trying to get work done for, essentially, the entire day, but haven't gotten anywhere. Also, don't really understand what the point of instagram is, but I figured I'd try it out.

Took our taiko team photo this morning...
Of which I wasn't a part of (intentionally). Ho hum.
After which, one taiko friend and I ran to a pre-med conference in our businessy clothes. It was a good experience for the most part. Out of the 4 workshops, one f them really sucked. The workshop leader was just really full of himself and kept on basically just trying to advertise his program. But the MD panel and UCSF medical students panel was really good. Definitely calmed some nerves.5 comments1 week 2 days ago
