I spent the past three days talking and working with staff at @UNICEF. Explained my project, learned about UNICEF. It was a great experience. Nothing solid yet though - UNICEF is such a large organization. But the overall experience was definitely positive :)
A tribal Garo mother in rural Bangladesh holds her baby. I know the painted dot on the forehead of the baby is to ward off "the evil eye". But I have no idea what the painted eyebrows are for.
In 2007, Cyclone Sidr hit Bangladesh. It was far more powerful than Katrina and killed thousands of people and destroyed many buildings (including this school).
As you can see, the winds were so powerful, it ripped the roof right of the building where it got stuck in a nearby tree.
I'm uploading this because it reminds me of the challenges those in Haiti are facing now. Somethings, like this school, may never get repaired.
