It really doesn't take much for me to remember how lucky I am. I'm glad she's got the chance to do what she loves and I hope that next year I'll be right beside her. For now, I'm thankful that she's been able to heal herself just a little bit more. I'm lucky to have her as my ultimate concern.

I'll be doing this (picture is from the summer, after a bad seizure) for St. Patrick's Day-Nothing like an MRI to celebrate. It's looking more and more like shoulder surgery maybe our only option...but this will tell us more.

Just took some Nyquil because I prefer not to hack up a lung several times in the middle of the night (Jakki is also hacking, so I'd prefer my insomnia not keep me up for that, the lyme is very noise intolerant lately). But I also do not look forward to the creepy ass dreams it gives me (GHB is no where near as bad as this stuff) or the hung over feeling I'll have in the am.

The Bad News: I have Lyme Disease. I have had it for 8 years now but did not get a diagnosis until 2 years ago. I am on IV antibiotics to try to go into remission. Treating Lyme disease is a lot like treating cancer, there is no cure and my best option is to get into remission and then hope not to relapse. The antibiotics are a lot like chemo, they kill the Lyme bacteria but they also kill good bacteria and that makes me very sick. I do the antibiotics in cycles often 1-2 weeks at a time and then I take 1-2 weeks off, rinse and repeat ad nauseum. I spend most of my time on the computer in bed and which is ironic because I never really sleep. I am a bat in training. <^oo^> The Good News: I like warm and fluffy things-like dinosaurs, Ice Bat, Stitch, and spending time with my dogs/bunny. I enjoy music, abstract art, walking in the rain without shoes or an umbrella, doughnut holes, believing everything has a reason and then spending time doubting this theory, research, eastern thinking and sometimes medicine, being Peter Pan-never growing up and living moment to moment. I don't like: genocide, late night commercials that make me cry, birds, unnecessary pain, those who chose not help those in need, bare feet on gravel, feeling helpless and unable to help others, seizures, falling, squash, and lost friendship. I am using dailybooth to document my progression through treatment and my daily life, so the pictures aren't always happy, most are shot in the same place, and I often look very tired. I want the pictures to be honest, they are a portrait of my daily life and it is quite an unusual life to lead. If you want to know anything else, just ask.
