School Days

It's always seemed strange to me when I think about school.

I am spending lots of time and effort solely for the purpose of entering the workforce.

It's not even about like a material thing for me. I've never been a materialistic person.

I just feel like I have to compete to get anywhere.

...

I am working to work.

PS: I'm dead

We spend our entire lives, doing not what we love, but often what we hate, so that when we grow up, we can have lots of stuff, and then we die.
    Consider this story-
A CEO visits an island nation for his vacation. He meets a native resting under the sun, eating bananas. The CEO is outraged at such laziness and he approaches the native.
"Why do you rest and not work? You could climb up a tree and collect bananas to sell, make some money, buy some land with more bananas, and then start a banana empire. You would be rich."
"Why do I want to do that?" asked the native.
Answers the CEO "so you can live out the rest of your life resting under the sun, eating bananas"

I think that only when mankind learns sustainable living, so he can live of his own land, will this cycle be broken.

Oh I completely agree with you on this one. Plus I feel like most of the stuff I am learning...correction PAYING to learn about I'm never going to need. I feel like most of it is outdated, impractical, or just something so obscure that I won't ever need it and even if I did I could of saved myself the $400 for the class and textbook and just google it. You study hard and pay for college just to get an entry level job and start at the bottom all over again. It's thoroughly infuriating.

@socialretard, I know the feeling ! We pay thousands of dollars, finish school with tons of debt, then we make money, only to pay off the debt.

    everyone should get a degree.
you need it to get work.
even if you don't like it.
hope you're feeling better about it today.

@socialretard....got the degree and graduated top of my class. Worked my tush off. Found no purpose in being a working stiff, raged against the system, then one day.....epiphany. You are a seeker of truth, you will find. Don't ever quit, never give in, never give up. You will know the truth in this life. Why? Because you are valued, loved and special.
