    Hai boothers :D

Catch-up booth. Seems most people i follow now booth once a season as opposed to once a day. Ah remember the glory days!

Lots of life stuff going on at the moment. My sister is in limbo, my aunty is in divorce proceedings but on the bright side my other sister will be 5 months pregnant on Tuesday! Unfortunately I leave Ireland Wednesday week so i won't be around for the baby period or the start of the toddler!

Feels like yesterday i was only talking about traveling and tonight is our leaving party! It'll be the 2nd leaving party I've been at in the past two weeks and for my friends, i doubt the last. It's become more of a trend now with even staunch homebirds leaving the vacuous Irish job market for places anew. Though after next week i can count myself into the statistics (5,000+ Irish young people emigrate for jobs every month).

But anyway enough depression! Party! I'll be heading to Thailand for a month, heading to Chiang Mai then making my way down to Singapore with long stops in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket and Kuala Lumpur. Singapore is so pricey ill only be there for a night before i head over to Melbourne. From there ill be winging it for the next 2 years or maybe more. Thankfully i don't get homesick and neither do the two girls I'm traveling with. Two of the same girls i used to live with back when i was an actual Dailyboother.

It feels a bit strange leaving, everything i hated about Ireland suddenly isn't so bad anymore. Over the last few months I've traveled around the country and we have some spectacular scenery. The Inishowen Peninsula (where my Mother is from), The Burren, Glendalough and probably the most stunning, the ring of Kerry.
Dublin itself is an odd place. My Dad grew up in the inner city and sometimes listening to him you can't help but lament the changes. The city centre itself was the real-world representation of our economic boom with cranes on every street and fancy expensive public buildings erected monthly. Though now after the recession shopping centres are shells. Half-finished housing projects litter the landscape as the developers downed tools the moment of downturn. In many ways it's quite sad to see but there's some light at the end of the tunnel. People are bored of not spending and are shopping again. Personally i think the biggest factor, and the little mentioned one, was the role of the media. "Recession Grips Nation", "Worst Economic Crisis Since the 80's", "The Boom is Over", are all typical examples of the sort of newspaper headlines at the beginning. At once people, myself included, stopped spending, started saving. It was only after that the job market collapsed. The somewhat bloated Irish business concept of managers managing managers was stripped down as foreign specialists were brought in to cut costs.
It needed to happen of course, our inflation was sky-high. Getting onto the property ladder was a nightmare. We became the 2nd most expensive country in Europe. Our state and semi-state corporations hemorrhaged money. All things that people put up with as our job opportunities were fantastic. But in the end the bubble burst, and the very people who didn't profit from the celtic tiger years, the young people, are now expected to be the ones to carry the country out of the gloom.

Ugh long blurb! I apologise. Though this is just an example, talking to any Irish person nowadays about the economy is likely to get a lengthy response!

So as you see, a lot on my mind today boothers!

    Happy 2011 boothers,

I was going to do a recap of 2010, but there's no point. It was a bad year for me and my family with the loss of two much-loved grandparents. But its best to not dwell in the past, enjoy the present and concentrate on the future.

My 2011 is going to be one of travelling and experiences. Hopefully ill even get to meet @rubeniv @littlekristine and stop into @Nixfunkle at certain points and try out Ruben's amazing cooking :)

What's your 2011 going to be?

    Hey boothers!

Thought i'd pop-on to wish you all a belated Happy Christmas and a Happy New Years! 2010 was such a crap year, i'm just glad there's only a few hours of it left.

What's your New Years resolution or do you have one?

    Hai boothers :D

Long time no see! For some reason i thought everyone was taking a DB break >.< Hehe good to see everyone back! @Nixfunkle is back making me jealous of the beautiful Hawaii, @rubeniv still making me drool all over my once lovely laptop, @nyser1 giving food for thought(is it the start of hurricane season? :(), @cbabbalaba and her love of Utah hehe @ActionJaxon and his wonderful tan lines, @aaakaye and her also wonderful tanlines XD and @5erg being her usual insanely creative self!
    Not much has changed!

Update #1: This is my last day in the house. Going to miss it and living with the girls, even if they did wake me up at 7.30am moving furniture... (?) Hence bags-under-eyes in pic 3! I'm staying positive though, my old room is much roomier, quieter and less mouldy! The house i'm in now is typical of the Irish housing boom, built fast and cheap for a profit. So 4-5 years down the line and there's already mould seeping in around the bathrooms and bedrooms... My parents house is 40 years old and never once had a problem with mould! Also i'm not sure but i think it's EU law that bedrooms must have a vent, another thing lacking here...

Update #2: I have a mysterious black eye that appeared yesterday overnight in pic 1... I have no idea why its there but its so embarrassing, i look like i've been in a fight! Not the best image to portray when one is starting their new class of yoga XD I moved up to the intermediate class and yesterday was the first one :D Had a blast, the class is longer and a lot more physical. More exercise is better exercise!

Update #3: Sadder news was that i went to see my Nana in the nursing home, she's developed Demensia and fell down the stairs at home so she had to go to hospital, where they discovered that she's had a stroke. It's sad as she's not able to communicate and has no memory of most us. I think she remembers my Dad, but we have to introduce ourselves. Feels so weird! She's gotten to a grand old age though 92. It's interesting that my Grandad on my Mums side lost his physical strength but mentally was as sharp as a tack, whereas my Nana on my Dad's side was spritely physically but lost mentally. Its sad but i guess thats life i suppose.

Update #4: Went out last night to send off one of my friends Dave, he's heading to Liverpool to study architecture for the next 4 years. He's the 3rd of my friends to move over there for work or college! Its a great incentive though, everybody is planning and doing things so its keeping my mind on travelling. Plans are still to leave around Feb, and call into Ruben at some stage!

Update #5: Heading to a festival this weekend, Electric Picnic. My family all got together to buy me the ticket and i'm camping with one of my best friends Katie that i haven't seen in about 6 months! She's also in on the latest craze over here it seems, moving out! Everyone's doing it; all of us in the house, my sister, Katie, Dave... Ok now that i write that down, it doesn't seem so many, but it feels that way!!

Right i *think* thats everything thats happened over the last 2 weeks! Excuse the length of the blurb but its an example of the jumble of thoughts in my head at the moment!

    How have you been boothers?

    Hai boothers :)

Don't know whether i'm tired or relaxed... Either way i can't get up! Did my yoga to a #nujabes playlist today. Chilltastic music, though the DJ himself died this year, RIP.
Starting to get really into my yoga recently. It's always been second to surfing, but now its a very close second. All i need is dreads and ill have my eco-activist costume ready for halowe'en >:D
Speaking of which i loooover halowe'en. Nothing like a cosy fire, autumn leaves and a good horror film!

What's you favorite holiday and why?
