The little man(atee) is now eight months old and very much the spirited little boy. I say boy because he's losing his baby look, has four teeth, has hollow legs to store all that food he's eating, and is pulling up to stand in all kinds of crazy places!
I keep checking in here periodically (though am fairly lousy about leaving comments/feedback unfortunately), I appreciate all the well wishes you've left for me - in case I don't make it back here before the end of the year, have a safe and happy new year to you all. <3

So... it's been a while.
A few months ago I would look at the older pictures I posted of the tired, newborn days with my son and it would remind me of how miserable I was feeling trying to deal with it all, even though I was truly grateful for the opportunity to be a mother. And as for now? I'm doing well... Rowan has recently turned six months old (!) and is growing by the day: getting close to crawling, he has a tooth now and is eating plenty of table foods.
You can see more of his pictures from the past few months here: https://picasaweb.google.com/106804082660950265580/Rowan#
In August I made the sad decision to re-home Jesse the Cockatiel after things here weren't working out so well. He now lives with two other cockatiels in a hosue full of children and other parrots, where he can be as loud as he wants. I still miss him daily, and often feel guilt about my decision, but I ultimately know that I did the right thing for us all.
I'm currently thinking about what will be happening with my career - I'll probably be going back to work part-time in February (still teaching) due to financial reasons, but other than that am enjoying being at home and being with my Manatee.
Hope you're all keeping well too. :)7 commentsOctober 8th, 2011

I'm taking a bit of a break from Dailyboothing as I currently don't have the time to fit in the boothing. Well, not taking pictures themselves (that's the easy part), just the keeping up to date and commenting on the pictures of my friends on here. I owe you guys more than the occasional note, and for that it's one of the reasons why I made this decision.
Will it be a long break? Short break? Mini break? I'm not quite sure yet, but there's a few of you I'd like to not lose contact with. You can find me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/aurian if you'd like to stay in touch. :)
So long, and thanks for all the fish. ;)4 commentsJuly 27th, 2011

Mr Serious is serious, as per usual.
I've always wondered what a male version of me would look like and now I know. I can't look at Rowan's face (especially his eyes and mouth) without seeing my features, which is both thrilling and disturbing at the same time! I have a doppelganger.9 commentsJuly 11th, 2011

I got out of the house for a bit this afternoon, for the first time since Wednesday! My back's still pretty sore but i wanted to move around more. Paying for it now but hey, it was worth it (Rowan needed new pj suits after a recent growth spurt).
Ran into one of the families I taught last year, the mother was horrified and asked if I'd lost the baby (...!). Nope, just birthed him already and he's home with the hubby. According to the same woman I apparently look like a high schoolers without my bump. She's lucky Rowan wasn't with me then, as I'd have definitely looked like trouble! Not bad for nearly 30. ;)0 commentsJuly 10th, 2011

Saturday morning and it's blissfully sunny outside (though cold). Was hoping to get out for a bit today but my back's still playing up somewhat. Instead the hubby has gone out to get our groceries (a new supermarket opened up, I think he's going to explore. And for the love of god I hope he gets a haircut; I've threatened to put his hair in pigtails if it's not gone by the end of the weekend!!)3 commentsJuly 8th, 2011

A quick self-portrait from yesterday afternoon as I'm not feeling quite so clever today. I like how it turned out, using a door's reflection to cast both sillhouette and shadow. ;)
Hope everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is doing well, I'm about ready for some real sunshine again!4 commentsJuly 7th, 2011

Rowan is three months old today.
I nearly forgot though due to back pain that's been progressively been getting worse this week, I remembered to pull out the camera and take a few shots today. He's been putting everything in his mouth lately, so the picture really sums up his personality at the moment!
(unfortunately due to breastfeeding there isn't much I can do for my back except take paracetamol and apply heat; trying to get an appointment at Rowan's osteopath clinic where they do remedial massage too).4 commentsJuly 7th, 2011

Well, it seems as though I survived the mass gathering of new mothers intact...! In fact, it was a lot of fun - and I got to bake for people too, which made the situation even better (brownies, pineapple muffins and Anzac biscuits). The upside is now my apartment is fairly clean, the downside was baby vomit on my carpet and some blankets that needed washing!
Rowan's got his three month health centre visit later today, that's about it from us. For recent pictures, see his Picasa album: https://picasaweb.google.com/106804082660950265580/Rowan#2 commentsJuly 5th, 2011

A whole bunch of people will be arriving at my place in less than an hour... Eep! Trying not to get nervous as things are low key, but can't help but feel a little that way anyway. Fingers crossed Rowan naps a little longer so I can finish the afternoon tea!3 commentsJuly 4th, 2011
