"ART OF LETTING GO"
“Remember, you cannot lose something that really belongs to you and you can’t keep that which belongs to someone else.” This particular quotation from a writer named Cayce, lingers in my mind for its appeal and sense of universality; I believe everyone can relate to this maxim because it clearly speaks of “letting go.”
Sometimes when we get too attached to a thing or to a person, we find it very hard to let them go. We cling on to them as if they are our possessions and worst, we unconsciously deprive them of their freedom and at the same time, we deprive ourselves to grow. When someone tells you, “It’s over, it would not work; we’re done,”what would you tell him or her? Would you accept the truth that he or she’s breaking up with you? Or would you not let him go because of your hurting ego? These are the questions that came across our minds when we are in the said situation. It’s as if ACCEPTANCE becomes a tough decision; all of a sudden, its meaning becomes too vague that we just ignore it.
I hope Cayce’s adage would serve as a reminder to us that “we do not own the ones we love and it’s always better to let them go despite the pain.” As what my favorite professor said, “Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional.”
