I'm not very good at expressing myself with my own words...
Tagalog was my first language :) I came back to the US when I was 7, not knowing a word of English.
After 10 years of being surrounded by mostly English-speaking people and going to schools in the US, I'm not as fluent in Tagalog and I CANNOT write a sentence in Tagalog. I don't even know where to begin haha I can only spell like 3 words :P But I still speak it decently since it was all I spoke at home and I didn't really start talking to people at school until...High School?

With English, I don't know grammar rules or what the subjunctive or adverbs or those things are. But I do know when a sentence made by another person sounds...awkward(?) since I've read a lot. Enough to know what a proper sentence sounds like.
I do well when I write essays because I listen and I study the subject I'm supposed to write about. Most of the stuff I write on those are just the words of the teacher + what I've read, both in their words. So I get good grades because it's exactly what they wanna hear; it's from their mouths :P

So because of my language problems, I usually quote other people in order to express how I'm feeling. Or when I'm explaining anything, really.

But give me enough time, and I can express it myself :)
