I may never leave this bed. Seriously. I'm so glad that finals are over and that I get to relax. I slept for 14 hours last night when I got home--that's how stressful the end of the semester has been for me. Naturally, one would think I would take a break from what I was learning, but nope! I've been reading more beliefs of the early Gnostic Christians, which was the most interesting part of my Religion class this semester. Funnily enough, I skipped that lecture because I thought it was going to be boring, and I first learned about it when studying for the final.
They have an interesting belief system in which God (who in Gnostic belief is called the Demiurge) assumes he is the perfect and only higher power because he was abandoned after he was mistakenly birthed by an Aeon named Sophia. Aeons are basically the angel-esque emanations of the True Unknowable God, who created the good and perfect spiritual world with no intention on ever creating the imperfect material world the Demiurge created.
As you can tell, it's a radical belief system by today's standards (and you should hear what they have to say about Christ and Lucifer and their true identities), but it was pretty much stomped out by the Proto-Orthodox Christianity (which evolved into modern-day Catholicism). In fact, the "antichrists" in 1 John 4:2-3 are believed to be a term attached to the Gnostics to stop their belief system from growing.
Anyway. I'm blabbering now. I'm just really glad that I'm back home and get to do what I want for the next few weeks.3 commentsDecember 9th, 2011

I'm back in front of the aisle that never ends.
Today is the last day of the semester, and I have two finals left to take: Anatomy and Religion. "But Josh," you say, "I thought you took your Anatomy final last night at 9:30!" Well, astute observer, I had to reschedule my final to 2:00 this afternoon due to the fact that I accidentally fell asleep until 8:00 and had absolutely no time to study for the test. Luckily, I had to option to reschedule it; otherwise, I would have had to roll over and die.3 commentsDecember 7th, 2011

I'm back in another cubby in the library. I have my Anatomy final at 9:30PM tonight, so I'll probably be camped out here until then. And since I already took my Biochemistry final at 7:30 this morning, I'm going to have an extremely long day of studying and test-taking.
Finals week sucks, but at least it'll be over for me tomorrow.0 commentsDecember 6th, 2011

Finals week begins tomorrow, and I am woefully unprepared for my Physics final. So since I cannot study in my room without having a mental breakdown, I'm in a shady corner of the second floor of the library in the section that houses all nine volumes of "Catalogus Librorum Impressorum Qui In Bibliotheca Collegii."
It's going to be a long night.0 commentsDecember 4th, 2011

Just an itchy eye. Yeah. An itchy eye.
Talking about religion with people is absolutely pointless if you don't share the same beliefs. I don't know why I do it anymore. It only pisses me off. If people can't shout "Amen!" to it, they don't want to hear it.3 commentsDecember 3rd, 2011

Feeling better today. Mostly because I got a new book and partly because I don't have class tomorrow and can do whatever I want tonight (even though that should be studying for finals).
I'm not sure if it's a good thing that I find Patrick Bateman really funny. I mean, I get that it's a satire, but I think there should be something inherently wrong about laughing at a mass murderer's jokes. There might be something wrong with me.1 commentNovember 28th, 2011

The last few days have been great.
If "great" can also be defined as "filled with bouts of vomit, a sore throat, and migraines."
Eventually I won't booth and complain at the same time.
But I don't see that happening soon.2 commentsNovember 27th, 2011

It's no longer Thanksgiving.
That means I can list all of the things I am not thankful for.
I am not thankful for what blow up mattresses do to my back.
I am not thankful for the fact that either a child or dog pissed on my blanket.
I am not thankful that I discovered my blanket was covered in piss ... with my face.
I am not thankful that everyone snores in this house. Including the three dogs.
I am not thankful that the ratio of the number of people in the house to the number of bathrooms is 12:2.
I am not thankful that twin two-year-olds and their four-year-old sister do not understand that 6:00AM is not the right time to come screaming down the staircase and stomping around the living room.
I am not thankful that both of my attempts to take a nap were thwarted by a tantrum.
I am not thankful that I cannot fall asleep no matter how hard I try.
But I do this for family.
And I am very thankful for them.1 commentNovember 25th, 2011

It's like the aisle that never ends. Except, y'know, it definitely does. I think I'm just fascinated by anything that's not what I should be doing.
I'm in the library studying for my Anatomy exam on the nervous system in five hours. I'm obviously being very studious.7 commentsNovember 18th, 2011

There's nothing quite like remembering at 10 o'clock that your Physics homework is due at 11 o'clock. The mad dash of calculator button-pushing, guesstimations, and sad attempts to draw greek mathematical symbols is completely pathetic. Couple that with the absolutely devastating discovery that Cramster's servers are down, and you have the perfect conditions for a hysterical student.
Still. I managed a 93% on my homework. Which is leaps and bounds better than the 0% I would have gotten if I hadn't remembered today is Wednesday. I was really lucky that this week's homework was easy and only 13 problems.
Normally, I would talk about anything more interesting. But seriously, this was the most exciting part of my day.3 commentsNovember 17th, 2011
