Swarms of high school graduates around my college campus today. Crazy to think that just 3 years ago I was one of them.^ #timeflies

IF YOU LEARN TO LOVE LIFE,

[Be it good, bad, happy, sad, busy, boring, awesome, awkward, difficult, stressful, fun, exhilarating, relaxing, interesting, depressing, scary, lonely, what have you.]

    LIFE WILL LOVE YOU BACK.

When our time is up and our lives are done, will we say we've had our fun?

Hope you all make the most of your life and enjoy the weekend! :)

Today, I began my 5th summer volunteering at the University of Minnesota Medical Center after an almost 2-year hiatus. I am so glad to be back and placed in the IV infusion suite! You may think that being around cancer patients would just be depressing, but there is something about volunteering with hospital patients that puts a little spring in your step each day you're there. It really makes you appreciate your well-being and reminds you to never take anything in life for granted. Giving back - no matter how simple the gesture - is a beautiful thing.

“I am convinced that everyone can develop a good heart and a sense of universal responsibility with or without religion.”

"One may practice religion or not, but so long as we seek happiness and continue to live in society, love and affection are indispensable"

"We need to make an effort to develop our inner values, irrespective of whether we are religious or not."

"If we are optimistic, take a longer view, and we employ realistic methods, we can contribute to making the world a better place."

“I look at people from a positive angle, seeking positive aspects. This immediately creates a feeling of affinity, a kind of connectedness.”

"Because our own human existence is so dependent on the help of others our need for love lies at the very foundation of our existence."

"Genuine love should first be directed at oneself – if we do not love ourselves, how can we love others?"

“Looking at the pattern of our existence from birth to death, we can see the way in which we are fundamentally nurtured by other's affection.”

"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion."

“Happiness does not come about only due to external circumstances; it mainly derives from inner attitudes.”

"As you develop a more compassionate attitude, you feel less anxiety, while your determination and self-confidence increase."

I may not be Buddhist, but the Dalai Lama says some good stuff.

The only thing that scares me more than commitment is never having commitment.

We spend our lives trying to be different, to be uncommon, but in the grand scheme of things, we are all the same.

We all have our own passions, our experiences and none of which can be compared. It is this that sets us apart, but it really is this that makes us more alike.

We are all humans, we are all driven for different things. How can you say one person's way of living is better than the other's? It's like comparing a watermelon to a hammer.

Despite our differences, we all have a story and they're all important.

    LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.

It's a scientific fact that if you stay in bed, nothing bad can ever happen.

    I can't wait until the day I can tell someone, "you're cancer-free".

About

I'm an athlete, I'm a musician, and I'm a scientist.

I may come off as pretentious, but nonetheless I'm sincere. I am a bundle of optimism mixed with a hint of realism. I choose to be happy and I'm here to help others feel happy as well. You may think I'm naive, but really I'm just polite. I hope you all choose to live your life to the fullest and follow your passion no matter what other people think.
