John Fante - "Full of life"
I just started reading it today, but he's one of my favorite writers so I already know I'll enjoy this one!

I'm probably gonna stop using DB because nobody cares about reviews and books and movies and such, they all care about shallow smiles...
I'll also leave facebook because its forcing me to use timeline, and I don't want to.
I'm such in a misanthropist mood nowadays.
When I was a bit younger I was a huge amateur of independant movies and I used to love watching a lot of films. I was very curious and even though my favorite kind of films is drama, I could watch almost anything, I prefer to see something before critisizing it... I used to have a blog where I would review them. I don't have time anymore to do anything like that, but last week I was tired in bed and bored, nothing to do as it was my vacation week, so I took the time to watch random movies that my friend put on my harddrive.
I didn't dislike any of them [it happens sometimes!] but I didn't especially find them all interesting. Some of them were gems though!
~ The company men : Because of the bad economics a lot of men lose their jobs and must adjust their lives according to that. Great casting, but I'd have expected more from it. Though for a frenchie like me it's funny to see how americans take care of their budget - there's a few cultural differences.
~ L'homme qui voulait vivre sa vie [french] : An important guy living a perfect life until his wife cheats on him, and that's the start of big problems and he escapes from his past life to start new somewhere else... A movie about the journey into finding our true self I suppose. Not bad.
~ No strings attached : First of all I adore Natalie Portman, but it wasn't enough to make me love this one... Fuck friends fall in love with each other. It was entertaining but nothing special. A romantic movie to watch at a pyjama party...
~ How do you know : Another romantic one for sleepovers between girls... nothing special either but not bad.
~ Se souvenir des belles choses [frnech] : Very cute movie about an Alzheimer woman and an amnesic man meeting in a medical center and who fall in love with each other. I enjoyed it because the actors were good and the characters attaching.
~ The adjustment bureau : A bit surreal and I didn't like it but the message isn't stupid, even though the 'fate' part was a bit boring. Basically you have to take the lead of your own destiny and don't let others decide for yourself.
~ Source code : Science fiction I suppose... A soldier from an experiment is projected in the last 8 minutes of a dead man to discover who put the bomb into that train and when he wakes up in the present he has to report everything he saw so they can arrest the terrorist in time. Bleh, not my kind of movies.
~ Les petits ruisseaux [french] : Or how old widowed people can be and their quest to find a new half to spend the rest of their lives less lonely. Nothing special...
~ Hardball : I watched it when I was younger and I loved it, and so I decided to see it again because I'm a huge baseball fan! By the way if any of you have an old glove that they don't use anymore or even an old jersey, just give it to me please!!!! And to those who never watched it, I suggest it to you, it's a must see!
~ The kids are all right : The perfect life of two teenager living in a great family until the moment they decide to meet the sperm donor, their father then, and it changes the life of this lesbian couple and their kids forever, it was really a nice movie, I recommend it.
My favorite 3 movies of the week :
~~ Air doll [japanese] : A wonderful Pinocchio's fable about a sexdoll who becomes 'alive' and discovers the world. It's more a criticism of our actual indivudual society where people are all lonely and blank, especially in big cities. I found it odd during the first minutes and I finally just adored it. It's so sad. You must watch it!!!
~~ Le fils du requin [french] : Two brothers around 11/12 years old don't have anyone to take care of them anymore since their mom is gone and the dad is an alcoholic, so they always escape from foster care or centers to live together in the street, and they of course make a lot of mistakes and disturb everyone in their native city... I can't really explain it into words, it's more something that you feel in your guts, it's sad but good.
~~ Biutiful [spanish] : A man who's raising his kids since his ex-wife is bipolar and not responsible at all has a lot of difficulty surviving financially so he gets more active in Barcelona's underground black market... until the moment he learns he has only few weeks to live before a cancer kills him so he just tries to handle everything and find a future for his children... well, you just have to watch it!
Soon in France the belgian movie ADEM will be out, and I really can't wait to see it!!! I fount it online in dutch and I'm working on getting proper english subtitles with the help of a friend, and I will force you to watch it also because a friend in Belgium suggested it to me and it's about CF and yeah well, I think I'll talk in more details once I've seen it. I also watched all the episodes of the tv series Parenthood, I really like it much and I can't wait for the season 3 next week! You should watch it, there's one character that has Asperger and it's well described. The whole thing is focused on the relationships between parents and kids and all, it's just good.
That's all for today, and yes I know I use dailybooth like a blog, but I prefer it this way, and I doubt posting a lot of pictures of me due to some creepy behaviors some people had in the past. So if you follow me just for the superficial shots and won't read what I take the effort to write [even though I don't have freetime] then you are just shallow and you don't respect me, so you can just unfollow me, because you don't deserve to be around me. If I get annoyed again by obsessed people I'll disappear as soon as I came back. Said. I have no time to waste anymore.
