That was interesting.... about 4 AM this morning, the 10th of February, I was sitting at my computer, trying to catch up on a few things when my chair started shaking side-to-side, and a rumble went through the house/ground.....I thought, what the hell was that? I mean, living next to a busy street like Harlem Avenue, the rumble of trucks is rather common, but not when there are zero trucks at 4AM, and not even any snow plows like the ones that have been hitting the streets tonight after our 13 inch snowfall this past day.
The news had the answer when I checked around noontime- it was at least a 3.8, later finalized at 4.3 magnitude, centered just west of Elgin, Illinois in Plato Center. It was felt in 7 states....
Looking on the map, it's like near exactly due west from my house, 30 miles.
I'm still interested in finding out more about the earthquake, like what type it was or any contributing factors.
