    ugh. Why did I ever leave California for the actual desert? I'd much rather deal with raining and snowing and shit than it being super hot. Oh well. Into hermit mode I go. At least until my body adjusts. Makes me feel like a bear.

    It was rough seeing my dad in his condition. Although it was definitely comforting being able to be there and actually help him. He can barely walk around the block and yet he's reading a digital photography book so he can use his camera better. Easily the strongest person I have ever known. And watching my mom go about was like watching super mom or something. The most impossible of people. My parents.

    Tomorrow marks my brother's birthday. And the first concert in Arizona that I'll be going solo to.

    Hopefully my shipments come in this week so I can get inside and tinker.

    Got to hit a (light) heavy bag yesterday. It's been so long that my body is going through some kind of force shock or something. Also got to shoot some hoops yesterday. That was pretty sweet.

    Way behind on my recording schedule. Catch up day.

    Tracked drums yesterday. Tracking bass and melodica today. Guitar and synth on the weekend and then editing and mixing next week. Definitely good to be working this stuff again. Weird to be all organized and quasi-pro about it.

    Made my first chiptune riff this morning. Am now going in between making drum beats and doing responsible things like cleaning my room and laundry. I feel like I've added a very pretty and gigantuous gun to my arsenal of noise making.

    Taking a break from organizing. Life has been weird this last month.

    Quit my job, picked up songwriting jobs again, got pretty serious about school, started working out, limiting my sugar intake, got flight tickets for the weekend before my brother's b-day, bought concert tickets for later that week, took steps to quit smoking, star wars xbox, and am actually practicing things.

    All the newly found free time has lead to me doing ridiculous things like banging on pots and pans.

    at my brother's place for the night. Such a nice area! Catching up on stuff with all this free time.

    Got to hang with old friends last night. So much fun. Met new friends too! Also kind of joined a band. Basically, I'm writing their drum and bass parts. Possibly even being their studio musician, but that depends on whether I'm in CA at the time of recording or not.

    Tomorrow is (possibly) watching my brother do some crazy kayak race with his crossfit people, shopping at amoeba, and hanging with friends and family. It's definitely nice being able to hang with my dad. Looking forward to my new schedule and many more trips back home for the weekend.

    No call, no show at work today. Taking a day to let all the grief/guilt/etc run through as well as catch up on stuff like cleaning and signing up for classes for next semester. Going to let work know this is my last week there as well. Need time to go visit my dad.

    I don't know how my dad can just tell me he's fine and not to worry when he's hooked up to an o2 tank and can barely walk 20 yards. Whatever it is, it is a strength that I do not possess.

    so glad I get to call this junk now! It's the DW 7000 pedal I bought when I moved out to Arizona. Bought it used with a little bit of wiggle, but that little bit of wiggle became not so little over the years. Replaced it with a spankin new DW 9000.

    My hair has shower furious qualities right now, but hot damn I am squeaky clean.
    Cleaned up the common living space with one of my roommates today.

    Dad goes into surgery tomorrow. Trying not to think about it, but failing. Still hoping for the best.

    2 48" bungee cords, 1 36" bungee cord, 1 24" bungee cord is 'clotheslining' from my closet to a guitar hanger on the wall to hold the 36" bungee cord that the mic clip is hanging off of......which is being pulled in by a bent hanger attached to the handle of the table.

    A quick update on 2012 so far:
    - lots of work
    - lots of schooling
    - songwriting again! (actually in the middle of recording/mixing right now)
    - re-arranged my room
    - got a raise
    - bought wall hangers, a humidifier, some hygrometers, and a bunch of other neat stuff to make my room work kind of like a studio/music store
    - got a used 360
    - grandma was being observed at the hospital for chest pressure but is now back home
    - dad just got fluid drained and tested from his lungs and is awaiting test results
    - girl scout cookies!
    - and normal cookies!
    - and I'm broke now

    2012 is looking to be a very eventful and troublesome year! Flying back home in 2 weeks to see my family for a day. Funny how even just a little joy and laughter can distract from the massive amounts of stress and frustrations in life.

    Why it certainly has been a while.
    Been pretty busy with work and all the new fancy things I have. Parents gave me a violin for Christmas, so I decided to pull out the money I had been saving for a double bass and bought myself a bunch of crap.
    Definitely 'twas nice of my family to drive all the way out here for Christmas lunch. They're pretty baller like that sometimes.

    It's my mom's birthday! Sadly, I am working. Hopefully we finish up quick and I'll at least see some fireworks on the way home or something.
