    Nail polish is my new obsession. If only my nails would agree to grow all long and pretty! Featured colour: cute as a button by Essie (appropriate name, although I also call it Barbie pink).

    Trying to figure out a workout schedule that will be compatible with my work schedule and my wanting to hang out with my boyfriend schedule. I need more hours in the day! I really enjoyed doing yoga and I always felt great after class. Hoping I can find a good studio close to home :)

    Fancy nails, fancy makeup, fancy wine. Tonight I'm having some friends over for dinner. Pork chops, potatoes, veggies, and apple pie, plus lots of drinks and coffee and tea. Not to mention all the board games we'll be playing, because we're cool like that.

    Who says I need my boyfriend here to have fun?

    That being said, I am still going to be happy when he's back from all of his physics conferences.

    I feel pretty today! The benefit to working somewhere I wear a uniform is that any day I don't work is a great chance to wear something cool. Picking outfits gets kind of boring when you do it every day. Now it's almost a special occasion. It's fun!

    I'm glad to have a day off but I'm not happy that it coincides with Super Bowl Sunday. Ideally, I would be spending today hanging out with the boyfriend, since I've been working evenings and that means we haven't had a lot of hang out time. However, I can't complain too much about seeing my physics friends, drinking beer and eating junk food.

    Lazy lazy lazy day.

    Oh how things keep changing. The big news is that I decided to leave grad school. People have been pretty surprised. I was completely unhappy in the program and it showed. Since I've quit, I have been so much happier and way less stressed. I got a job at a pharmacy just a 10 minute walk from my place, I've been going to yoga more, and I've spent more time reading. I have even had more time to call my mom, which is always a plus in my books. The biggest lesson I've gotten out of this is that you can't worry about what other people might expect you do you. I have definitely wasted a lot of time on that.

    Off to Skype with my sister and clean the apartment. Now that I'm working, I have real days off, as opposed to when I was in school and any day I wasn't in class was a day spent doing assignments.

    Lazy day (even thought it shouldn't be). We had a few people over last night and they ended up crashing at our place. This morning we made breakfast and watched some movies. I had a Skype date with one of my east coast buds and now it's 5 o'clock. Not sure how this whole "working on assignments" thing is going to pan out...

    Working late. I have two assignments due on Monday and I want to get them done as soon as I can. I think I have the first problem on each one figured out, so that's a start. Then again, I probably won't get any work done tomorrow, between all of my lectures and a mini Star Wars marathon that is taking place at my apartment tomorrow night. Seriously, Big Bang Theory isn't that far from the truth. Physicists are typically nerdy in every aspect of their lives.

    Guess who got to see Toy Story 3 on Ice tonight. A friend of mine for high school is one of the v. talented skaters in the show, and since they are doing a weeklong run in Vancouver, I thought it necessary to go see her perform. TOTALLY WORTH IT. The costumes, the lights, the choreography, the characters were so fantastic and the whole show was so much fun. It almost makes me wish I had my own kids to take to see it. I'm glad I was able to get away from schoolwork for a little while, before I spend my whole weekend knee-deep in assignments. Oof.

    My first DB post in almost a year! Oh how things have changed.

    - I officially graduated from university, with a Bachelors degree in Science (Physics with honours :) )
    - I moved to Vancouver to start my masters degree
    - I moved in with my wonderful boyfriend, and we have now been together for almost a year and a half (time flies)
    - I cut my hair short for the first time in 4 years and for the first time since my traumatic way too short cut. I love it now :)

    More updates to come! Off to dinner with one of my gal pals :)
