I'm not dead. Just busy.
- Derby practice has been going well.
- I've been trying to be more productive with my script reviewing work.
- We went to an awesome book launch in Camden.
- I'm trying not to freeze, hence the robe (though I think the weather is finally taking a turn for the warmer).
- I'm eating super-awesome leftover mashed potatoes and the last bit of my Sabritones (of which I always need more).
- I need a hair cut but don't care enough yet to get one.
- I dug up an old draft from a couple years ago and, upon realizing that it's much better than I remembered, started writing it again.
- I cleaned out my gmail; there is now only one email in the inbox, a significant improvement on the 1500+ that were there this morning (seriously, I had shit in there from early 09).
- I'm doing my best to stay "up" and regulate my moods a bit more.
- I need to write a book review and update my blog regarding my current reading list and various happenings.
So that's me accounted for. What're you doing?2 commentsFebruary 12th, 2012

So the rest of me is dead.
It was really cold at the derby practice last week and that cold air settled in my chest. I thought it would go away but it spread to my sinuses and throat. Pretty much everywhere above my shoulders aches. I slept like shit because my head is so pressurized and my throat feels like it's lined with broken glass. I'm really over being sick.
And to top it all off, the Niners lost.
Going to curl up with a book and wait for my doctor's appointment. I hope they give me all the drugs.
How do you handle being sick? Do you get whiny and helpless like me or do you tough it out and go on with your routine? (To be fair, I never really get sick with a mild cold or something. It always seems to be a horrible sinus infection or something that totally debilitates me. I don't think I'm a wimp, but maybe I'm wrong. :P)5 commentsJanuary 23rd, 2012

So my legs are dead.
I had my first practice with the Brighton Rockers last night and this fresh meat is feeling tenderized. Seriously, my calves are spasming. It was an intense two hours but I'm stoked about next Tuesday. There are some seriously talented skaters on the team and I want to glean from them all the knowledge I can. I just hope that I'm cut out for it.
On a totally unrelated note: what are you having for dinner tonight?

Slouchy day.
Went to a derby social last night and had plenty of laughs. Hung out in the "sensible corner" whilst other people nearly got us kicked out of the pub for crowd surfing.
Feeling cozy. I want a giant bowl of chilli but don't have several key ingredients. To shop or not to shop?
Also, need to write another blog post reasonably soon. Probably going to change the subheader and maybe the title, both of which are anagrams of my name.
Narration Sidetracks = first & (my new, unofficial hyphenated) last name. A Romanticist Kaiser = first middle last.
Any ideas for blog titles?
Does your name anagram to anything fun?7 commentsJanuary 14th, 2012

Trying to be proactive. My mood has been a little wonky but a good deal more stable than the past few months. Looking forward to skating tomorrow (the new wheels are a dream). Writing and reading daily has been good for me. It's so easy to get distracted by email notifications and various social networks. *cough*tumblr*cough*
I'm not a new year's resolution kind of person but there is something about a brand new calendar that makes me optimistic. Fresh starts.
What are you making time for these days?2 commentsJanuary 5th, 2012

Feliz Año Nuevo.
2011, you were interesting and overwhelming; you brought a ton of joy and a decent helping of bullshit. It was fun but now it's over.
2012, let's roll.5 commentsDecember 31st, 2011

More derby stuff. Got some new wheels and bushings today and will be replacing the stock ones. Should be exciting!

So I'm not very daily with the boothage lately but oh well.
Just put on toeguards on my skates. I'm going to order new wheels and bushings this weekend. I need wheels with a bit more grip for concrete and these are clacking around like woodblocks. I'm so tempted to buy Gumball toestops but I think I'll get them as a reward for finishing freshmeat and not dying.
The intro derby day is mañana and I can't decide if I'm more nervous or excited. :/ Here's hoping I don't suck ass.
Are y'all nervous/excited about anything?3 commentsDecember 10th, 2011

I'm not dead, I swear.
Just had a period of extreme funkitude (which sounds so much more fun and Bootsy Collinsesque than it actually is) but I'm on the up again.
December. Holy shit, how is it December?4 commentsDecember 1st, 2011

This is the Thanksgiving meal that I made with the help of my amazing husband @WikiRiffs, one of many people I am thankful to have in my life.
What are you thankful for? You don't have to write me a list (though you can if you'd like to); just reflect for a minute, appreciate people or things that you sometimes take for granted, and give thanks.2 commentsNovember 24th, 2011
