I curled my hair out of boredom (using a straight iron.) I think it looks so weird. And it looks like there is too much of it. Of course, my haircut is for straight hair which probably plays a role. But... it feels funny.

Every time I read this book, I keep getting distracted by tattoo ideas. I have one that I want to get but I feel like I need to wait until after a certain point to get it, almost like getting a graduation diploma or something - like I have to earn it (and it is also more cliche but I am still going to do it in some form.)
So, I had the random idea of getting what I wrote on the note card tattooed somewhere. And... the idea is actually kind of complicated though I love it. So.... I'm going to bounce it off you guys because I honestly really like this idea. The explanation is a bit long, you can skip to the end for the very basics if it makes sense with only that:
----
First thing you have to know about me is that I basically live my life with Buddhist philosophy ever since the first time I really heard about it (from Thich Naht Hanh.) I don't exactly live strictly Buddhist or anything like that, I am not a monk. But I do really believe in the whole "All of live is dukkha (suffering)."
Suffering is not the best translation so I need to explain. There are three "aspects" of dukkha, the first being normal suffering as you think of it. (dukkha-dukkha.) Second being that even when you are happy, nothing in life stays the same and when what makes you happy inevitably ends, you suffer because of your attachment (viparinama-dukka; dukkha produced by change). And the third being dukkha as a conditioned state (samkhara-dukkha; the hardest one to fully explain and the most important in the sense of this tattoo idea.)
So, basically, being attached to things too much and not accepting and realizing that everything changes is the cause of pain in the world. And you can get above the pain by realizing this and not sitting around lamenting over why this person isn't around or why XXXX isn't the case anymore or looking to the future for something better. (This is really hard to sum up.)
To continue, the dukkha caused by the conditioned state is essentially the Buddha's idea that humans do not have a core "self," we are just made up of 5 Aggregates that make up who we think we are (which I will not go into), and that even from minute to minute we are not the same. The thing that keeps us having a sense of self is the fact that the aggregate of consciousness is conditioned, and that we do not see the separation of the aggregates. (Will not go into this, if you're curious, ask.)
----
To one person, he used the example of a mountain stream being like human life.
And this tattoo hit me, as I wrote above this example "What I love most about a river is, you can't step in the same river twice." Because when I was little and heard that song (from Pocahontas btw), I at first felt confused because a river is a river, I mean... it's still the same river, right? It doesn't move anywhere But then I realized what she meant, the river is literally never the same second to second even though it is the same river. Really, there's nothing making it even one whole entity but us humans putting a name on it and deciding it's one whole thing to be named as such. I mean what really stays the same about a river? They are constantly moving and changing and forming. And people are just like that. Well, not just people, that's the point. The WHOLE WORLD is like that. To be attached to things is obviously going to hurt because there is no absolute way things aren't going to change, they always are.
And, though no one would understand that but me, I feel like this is the tattoo I was looking for; the thing that sums up to me my life philosophy and it's far more interesting and covers more than the other ideas I had. All the other ideas I had fell short.
So.... my biggest question now is where to get it done. (And, then, coming up with the funds.) And then what font to used and stuff like that. Because I'm pretty sure I am going to get this done.9 comments1 week 2 days ago

I found a satire newspaper of our school newspaper and they had these #Valentine's in the back. This isn't all of them. They amuse me far too much. I think they are the best #Valentine's I have ever seen.

Being studious. I have sooooo much reading today, I don't think I'm sleeping tonight. I want to get everything I can get done tonight and tomorrow for the upcoming week (and maybe next Monday and Tuesday if I can) because my birthday is on Wednesday and I am going home to celebrate with people there on the weekend so there is no way I am getting anything done after Tuesday.

Bedtime at almost 7am. Now I can more comfortably watch netflix on my laptop while in bed. Lying like this rather than this: http://dailybooth.com/blankppr/21234820
Also,
I applied for a job at McDonald's yesterday. I never wanted to work there but now I really want to because it's perfect considering my situation. So wish me luck!!! I really want them to call me.16 comments1 week 4 days ago

I moved my room around. How weird. And, for the record, the mess on the bed is my blankets in a pile and some clothes that didn't dry all the way when I did laundry. Okay? Okay.
