Darkness
a thick black rain cloud
to drench the slamming windows
blinds shutter while veiling the outside
a blanket covers us
a light cloth protects and
shall prevail regardless of no
blanket or blind that
can save us from fear.
from ignorance.
with no discrimination of race
gender, age, lifestyle
it cares not for
those who are left behind and
we care not for the orange
full moon illuminating the horizon
the soft weathered bark
on an old oak tree
crickets chirping
on a soothing summer night
we think of none of this
and before we know it
the curtains are drawn

The smell of sulfur and smoke still fills the air after an evening of playing with fire. There seems to be no other element that can put the senses at ease and into a trace like state than that of the flame.
