Well, I haven't been on DB in quite a while, but that is because I have been very busy with bigger and better things! I am a co-host on a comdey/general interest podcast! Give it a listen if you feel so inclined!
One of the nicest days on campus in a long time :) nice and warm, sun is popping out every once and a while, and I got out of class early! Its been a while DB, but whats going on?
Once again, its been a crazy amount of time, but between design work and other school related times, i have barely had time to do anything recently. Just checking in and letting the two or three people who i communicate with here know im still doing well, and keeping up with them still even if i dont booth very much.
ya know what, i think im gunna start using DB again. thanks @Uncle_Pete for reminding me about DB :P
im fast approaching 37 hours without sleep, and College is kicking my ass all over the place. Graphic design is apparently designed in the first sememster to kick the crap out of you, and prepare you for a demanding job, but looking around the room now, its 4am and there are 3 of us that live on my floor in my program all doing the same project.
in 1959, William Bernbach created a beautiful peice of advertising that had one tiny car on a full page spread. The headline was simple, and read "Think Small." there were many of its kind to follow, and were all tailored towards the Wolkswagen Beetle -- a car that was a difficult sell to americans-- and each had their own witty headline. another famous one had the picture of a car that looked like an average beetle, with the headline "lemon" the body copy continued to say that even though the car seemed perfectly fine, there was a very very minute imperfection, and said that it was deemed a "lemon" by the Volkswagen factory. these two peices of advertising and Bill Bernbach "invented modern advertising with the Volkswagen campaign"
now on to the relevence of this post. due to the fact that this advertisement is one of -- if not the -- most influential and industry changing ads in history, and i have also worked for a company that is under the DDB name, which stands for Doyle, Dane and BERNBACH, and i am also now in school for advertising and graphic design, i decided to mark that permanantly, and what way is better than having the worlds greatest campaign on my chest.
well, its been a while.. as i said, i would be leaving DB for a while, but im pulling an all nighter, and talking to @iatethecookieyum on skype reminded me of DB :D so howdy y'all. how are you doing?
wow, so yesterday was my 18th bday, and i know i said i was gunna slow down on DB, i had to post this. my friend picked me up from work to "take me to my present" which was at the mall, when she payed for me to get my ear pierced. then we chilled at the mall for a bit, and headed home to pick up a few friends for dinner at Wild Wings.. but when i got in my house, my house was flooded with my friends.. it was my first ever surprise party, and it was incredible! great night with great friends :D im happy :D
