I added more artwork to my wall but I've still got tons of things to change and ideas to attempt.

These two pieces I had to make for my 2D Design Class when I was in school. We were to create a theme to an image and use patterns and texture. My favorite one is the one in my right hand (by the fish tank) I designed that one based off of the Radio City Music Hall in New York City crossed into an orchid flower. (I'll post a picture below) The critique didn't like it so much. Some guy referred to it as "an octopus looking thing with tentacles." BITCH!!!! I guess he doesn't know what an orchid or the RCMH looks like.
But, It seems the class LOVED the one in my left hand. (I spent 5 minutes on it last minute.) They said it reminded them of a city street grid. They loved the depth, the color combination, and the structure of it.

Now is your time to be self centered. Show me your artwork! Be it stick people or wonderful masterpieces. Any media! Critique or explain your work. GO GO GO!

I do Photography.. I need to do it more, I have not had time lately. These are some of my favorite pictures. I do landscapes generally, but for a shoot I did eyes. My friends and family, with different emotions. I do draw as well, but my portfolio is at home. <3

    An up close shot.
If you look, you can slit up the flower into sections of the theater hall.
The lower section being the seats, rows, and aisles.
The sides being the walls that stretch back.
And the top and center being the stage, lights, and feeling of stretching upward.

So do I, very much so. Here, have a super short story I did:

Some dance to remember, some dance to forget. Tonight, I was dancing to forget. My right hand clasped his left and I guided his hip around the room as we moved in time to the music. His blue eyes shone out of the darkness, lighting up his whole face. I couldn’t help but smile as he looked at me, our eyes joined by an invisible bond I didn’t want to break.
“I shouldn’t be here,” I said, and although I knew the words were true, I couldn’t stop dancing. I was even leading – it had been my idea to dance. What was I doing? My girlfriend sat at home and here I was dancing with the most handsome man I’d ever encountered.
“You should be here,” he whispered. “Forget about her. And anyway, you aren’t cheating. We’re just dancing, that’s all. Just dancing.”
“I’m not just dancing anymore,” I said, unable to believe I was just about to say what I was going to say. “I think I’m falling.”
“Falling?” He knew what I meant, but his face sought confirmation.
“In love,” I said. Finally, I stopped dancing and we stood looking at each other, completely alone in the hall, the quiet sound of the radio all the noise there was. “And isn’t it worse to fall in love with someone when you shouldn’t than to have sex with someone?”
“No,” he said, gently stroking my cheek. I should’ve backed off but I didn’t want to, his soft fingers on my stubbly face gave me a rush more powerful and intense than any drug. “You’re human. You’re fallible. We all make mistakes. But let me ask you, honestly. Does this feel like a mistake?”
    I paused.
“Not one bit,” I said. “But tomorrow you have to go home and I have to go back to her and I’ll be left with your memory.”
“Then we’ll have to make it a night you’ll never forget,” he smiled and took my hand. I smiled at the thought.
“Just one more dance?” I said.
“Just one,” he smiled at me. Our lips touched for the briefest moment, the electricity firing around our bodies. No one could deny chemistry like that. I put my hand on his hip and resumed my dance to forget. A dance I would always remember.

I also play music/sing and (extremely rarely) compose some music... you can find some videos of all 3 things on my youtube channel. I don't think of my videos as art, they are more devices to transport information :)

I also write stuff which you can find on my blog

@gossipguy17 Very beautiful story! I like the simplicity of the scene. You brought us into the room without over feeding us what the scene looked like. I was able to build a lot out of my imagination. Love how its classy and romantic and GLBT genre. We need more writers tapping into that market.

@WillTaff That's my concern. One of the novels I'm writing that I'm in love with is about two gay guys falling in and out of love, but I know that if it ever got published, everyone would focus on the sexuality and it would be sold as gay literature, whereas to me, it's just a love story. It doesn't matter to me who is involved.

@WillTaff Alrighty then. I write a lot differently from @gossipguy17 though.

I closed my eyes and let the warmth flood over my face. The grass cushioned me where I lay, whilst the soft breeze rolling in from the East made the trees rustle a little, as if they were excited for something. The sky was a clear blue, the kind of blue you’d only ever see if you went to the seaside when you were about five, and you looked over the waves as they sparkled in the sunlight. Birds chirped in the trees, their songs creating a small story in my head - each note representing a feeling, each riff creating a scene. The sun became a little sunken, meaning there was no more warmth able to flood my face. I rose to my feet, and padded over the soft grass. I was barefoot, but that never mattered to me in the summer; it was a time for me to relax, and explore where I lived. I slowly trundled my way towards the wood; soft peat cushioned my feet as I made my way through the wood to the log by the stream, where I always sat and read whilst listening to the water running over the smooth pebbles, and the small fish splashing as they darted in and out through the rocks. The sun scattered lazily through the leaves, creating a canopy of emeralds and jades, with a small beam of gold shining through every now and then. Ivy wound round the trees in spirals, whilst clover and bluebells grew in clusters scattered either side of the path on which I trod. Frogs chorused with birds to create an idyllic harmony that soothed me every time I sought refuge here. When I finally found my log, it was still the same; worn down oak, from a tree that had fallen many a storm ago; the seat that I’d somehow worn into it still stayed smooth, no splinters daring to disturb the tranquillity of this perfect setting. There were a few large, flat stones that had to be hopped over as to reach it; but even if you were to fall into the brook, it was only just shin deep, the pebbles littering the bottom stayed smooth and undisturbed. It ran clear, and if you turned while sat on the old oak, then you could see the gradient from the other end of the wood; they were like steps, perfectly formed by nature, and the brook ran down it easily; should a stone be dislodged, it would seemingly skip over it, then carry on undisturbed until it reached where I sat at the bottom of the hill. It was hard to believe that I could have found such a place so near to me, but I was so used to it that it was common practise for me to spend my days here. I settled into my place, pulled out my battered book, and removed the bookmark. Time to begin.

I'm unsure if that makes sense D: but oh well.

@WillTaff I don't do art, I just do boredom, lol. You can tell by the detailing that you worked hard on that piece, it is a shame it did not get the recognition it deserved.

Perhaps you can give @gossipguy17 some advice on how you defy being boxed into the typically 'gay' category, it might help him tweak his style so that his book wouldn't be niched. It would be a real shame, as you said it was an impressive passage, I would look forward to reading something similar. :)

EDIT : Sorry for the many comments, I've had duplicates, mysterious deletions and now five 'FAIL whales'. I am not having a good evening. :p

@gossipguy17 I could argue like three different sides on this. First of all, if it says gay in the book just once its going to come up in searches online and in the library as a gay themed book. So there will always be people seeing it as a gay themed book. And rightfully so, being two guys falling in and out of love. If I was looking for specifically a gay themed book (which I do enjoy) I would want to find your book. Its not a horrible market to tap into, actually its just starting to get some good stuff. They could use help though!
I think how you could show people that it is just love between two people is by simply doing that. Showing that both gay couples and straight couples and any other type of couples, all go through the same joys and hardships. By that you will show that love is love, both messy and wonderful.
Are you still going to get some bullheaded straight guy to pic it up and read it... I would say not, but they aren't usually interested in that genera anyway. You'll need to find another way to tap into that market.
I think we are long past due seeing quality gay themed media. I watched a movie that was a gay themed love story. Very beautiful plot and everyone lived happily every after.... Nice and all for a rainy afternoon but thats as far as that goes.
I look forward to more of your work!

@SyrupAndHoney I hope you dont mind me using this like a critique?

When I was in high school I took a creative writing class. I loved it because it gave me the chance to actually write with passion for the first time. I learned a great deal from practicing different techniques, sharing my work, learning from the critique we did a couple times a week.

I ran into a problem that most people would see as a blessing. I was trying to discribe this train station platform as part of a scene for a larger story. I described everything about this scene. I talked about the sound of the lady walking, it had just rained, puddles sat on this platform, the sun just bursting out of the clouds, warming the platform, steam rose from the ground, a garbage can sat in the center while trash had just missed getting in its proper place. I'm sure I talked about the wind, maybe the smell, sounds, who knows what else. The point being, I over saturated the story with describing what the place looked like. I took what could have made a beautiful 20 page chapter and jammed it into 4 pages.

I think you should take a step back and enjoy the simplicity that one sentence can do on its own. I think by either taking out some commas or by making two sentences you could make more powerful statements. When I was creating the entire scene for the reader I wasn't giving the chance for the reader to paint their own image. Sometimes letting the reader create images in their minds it tells a better story the reader can connect with.

Best thing to do is keep at it, share your work with others, and reading! Reading other great writers work is the best way to learn to write. Keep it up!

@ODDBALL I classify art as anything that pushes boundaries and strengthens the mind. I could take a stick from the woods, some people see just a stick. If i give context to it, give it meaning, put it in a setting that would make someone stop and think. That is when the stick changes from just a chunk of wood into art. So, are your little guys art, yes, it something I wouldn't have come up with.

@thekingofjonny You know I love your work, or I hope you do! And now that I know your inspiration behind your painting TOTALLY COOL!!!!

    @00dles0fn00dles Thanks! :P

@denalim Thanks! Yeah, I agree but thats how it works. Very cool photograph! I actually have: http://tansydeath.deviantart.com/ but I haven't really done much with it recently.

@coryhall I do like it enough, I did make it and all and needed something good enough to show. I just was frustrated that spending so short of time created something that people enjoyed more. It has its own things going for it.

@SethRader Great photograph! It sets a dreamy feeling. Sends me back to my days during the summer when it rains. Nothing really to do but sit in the garage and enjoy the storm. Also like the movement of the shirt but yet its frozen.

@DJimSD I'm sure any artist at isn't full of themselves would tell you they are always learning. Most of the photography that I do is trying something new. I love learning new things and trying to figure out how to get it to work out. @thekingofjonny can tell you, just the other day I was trying some complicated photo techniques that I didn't get to workout. Yeah it was frustrating but at least I tried it. Moral of this rant, keep learning, trying new things, thats what makes it fun!
