Hello All! This is the Mechanical Room at the Rose Wagner. This is the same level where the Spot Booth is in the Proscenium theatre. If the pipes are any indication, this is a very frightening place. The noise coming from the high-pressure pipes are an even bigger indication. The warning signs of Arc Flash didn't help either. If something were to go horribly wrong in the building, it would be here, and me and the other spot op would be screwed. Where's the most frightening place you've worked at?

    Don't look into the light!

This is the spot that I got to operate at the job I had mentioned in the previous photo. It's a Lycian 1209 Midget HP. It was kind of hard to manage, because it definitely needed some WD-40. I had loosened the knobs and corner keys to try to make it move easier. It also has a manual dowser. It's literally this lever that you pull up and down like you would with the frames inside of it. It was really difficult to fade in and out that way and making it pretty, but we did it! :D It also had to be at an exact level, otherwise it would leak light around the edges, which made bumping out fun. lol.

This is me in the catwalk at the Libby Gardner Hall. It's in the School of Music here at the University of Utah. It was a pretty cool gig. $100.00 for four days worth of work. It was just two follow spot operators and a couple of deckhands for a concert. A night of Sondheim. It was pretty fun. What do you guys do?

I just found this outside of the theatre that I work at. I hate football. The reason being that it's a bunch of overgrown, overprivelaged babies chasing an animal hide back and forth across the field. It's a ridiculous concept, I think. Also it spawns idiocy, and it takes precedence over everything.

I understand it brings in a lot of money, and I also understand that it takes a lot of discipline of the human body to participate in such an activity. Although, there are plenty of activities that I can think of that also takes a tremendous amount of discipline. (ballet, playing an instrument, opera, painting, etc.) I think we as a society value sports in general far too much.

Why do you hate football, or why do you like it?

Today was quite a beautiful day. That's a pretty decent picture too, for it being a phone picture. Fall is my favorite time of year, because it's not quite cold yet, but there's a little nip in the air, and the scenery is just beautiful. Plus, here, Fall and Spring typically lasts only a week. This is the longest Fall I can remember thus far. We're usually snowed over by now.

What's your favorite time of year, and why?

This picture was taken yesterday before the Hay Fever Preview night. This is what I'd like to call my "Who knows when this shit will end" face, but it is indeed open now, and my job is done! Hooray!

So, this is what I look like in the mornings, which isn't all that different from the rest of the day. If I don't have the Big Gulp, I am one cranky bitch, just so you know. @TayDub can attest, I'm sure. On the bright side, I'm so close to opening this beast of a show this week. Oh so close. Just hanging a few more lights and fixing some cues and what not. I'm the lighting designer for it, by the way, and the show I'm speaking of is Hay Fever. Wheeeeee!
