With the help of the ever so convenient iPhone 4 dailybooth app, I will most likely become a better boother. This is the newest addition to my family. My orchid Élodie, my French orchid. And the gorgeous creature holding her is Mickey.
I am WAY excited for having this flower for some reason.
Show me your plant friends y'all are proud of!
Peace, love, and happiness everyone!3 commentsDecember 14th, 2010

This is my new CalArts school I.D.! I am officially a CalArtian. A whole year worth of preparing, stressing out, and readjusting my life came down to me starting school here.
I start on Monday.
In the 4 days of orientation/pre-semester events/class sign-ups I have to say its been quite an adventure.
Class sign-ups are a total fucking mess. A bit of a cattle call, if you will. But other than that blunder, everything is going smashingly. I feel like I am finally surrounded by the group of artists I have always dream of and was meant to be surrounded by. They inspire me. Everyone sees the world on a different, more beautiful, more artistic level at CalArts and it really makes for an amazing environment.
These are my people and I can't wait to start working with all of them.
Today I spent the day with my new CalArts crew at Starbucks, by the pool in my skimpy underwear, and mobbin' around the dorms enjoying free pizza.
Good Friday.
Peace, Love, and Happiness,

Today I packed.
I just got back form the gym.
Tomorrow I move.
I haven't shaved in days.
This summer is coming to an end.
The past few months of my life have been a roller coaster to say the least. I have 11 days until I start at my new school. I can't stand having to get re-acclimated to everything. I can't remember the last time I felt stable. I miss that feeling.
Head held high, the optimist moves forward.
I am having trouble composing. I have the inspiration, I just can't seem to put the right combination of notes on the paper. Hm.
In my life, I have had to leave two really great guys behind because of distance. I love them both and always will, but it just isn't possible to be with either of them when I live so far away. What do you do when you love someone, and they love you, but it just can't be?
Peace, Love, and Happiness,

I
AM
THE
WORST
BOOTHER
EVER.
I haven't boothed for months.
And in those months I have moved twice, traveled all over the country, been through the worst relationship of my life so far, cried about 30 times, smiled a lot more, and gained a new outlook on life.
So...with that being said. I very well might be back to Dailybooth.
@WillTaff I'm back!....I hope. ;)7 commentsSeptember 1st, 2010

I some how have 9 bonsai tree sprouts now and the tallest one is over an inch tall. :D
Sad booth....
So first off, I am a bad boother because I am too busy to booth every day. Hence why I haven't for the past three days.
With that said, I have realized that I just don't have the time for DB anymore. This semester is killing me in school, and I can't seem to find ANY extra time anymore. I am sorry for the people that look forward to my posts. BUT....
I am on Faceook on my phone ALL the time, so I would LOVE if anyone on here added me on FB.
I feel bad for copping out on the people that have read and replied to all my posts, I guess it's just the way the cookie crumbles.
SO! Add me on Faccebook at

or just look me up "Travis Edward Kane"

I had a great workout tonight. I am on my way to hitting goals. While I was at the gym, I thought I saw @WillTaff, and I got all excited, but then I realized it wasn't him...lol.
The tallest of my 6 bonsai sprouts is about 3/4 in tall!
I have the best V-Day present for my boyfriend :D
I have two big orchestra concerts that I am playing principle oboe in today (Friday) and Saturday.
And I just confirmed TWO conducting teachers. I am going to get lessons from legit conductors! Dr. Johannes Müller-Stosch, and Dr. Jonathan Talberg! Fuck yes! I am so excited for what I am going to get out of the lessons!
What is everybody doing for V-Day? Single or taken, let me know what you will be up to none the less!30 commentsFebruary 12th, 2010

Sometimes I get worried about how quickly I am progressing in music. I always pushing to be the best but the second I feel even slightly comfortable, I realize that I have SO much farther to go before I can even DREAM of breaking the surface of my professional music career.
I want to be an orchestral conductor. And I don't want to direct a high school orchestra, or even a college symphony really. I want to be big leagues. I am talking professional, top tier, symphony orchestra.
But honestly I am nowhere close to my goal.
i see conductors that are 22-25 years old making it professionally already, and it scares me that I could possibly not make it that soon. I have less than 3 years until I am 22. That is three years to rank up there with the top conductors in the world.
How discouraging.
Nobody barely even knows who I am. I can't seem to make a name for myself, I can't seem to get very many gigs playing oboe, and I also can't find the players to premier any of my compositions.
But there is a bright side. I am ridiculously determined.
I am transferring schools (hopefully) this next year to a better school where I can truly hone in on becoming the BEST musician I possibly can, and the BEST conductor I possibly can. I have 2 years to whoop my ass into shape and be beyond prepared for grad school auditions.
Every time I get discouraged, I get motivation along with it.
My odds are small, but honestly, the odds are already small to get as far as I have gotten. All I have to do it continue to cut them down until my only option is to make it big.
What are your opinions on aiming high? Setting goals that are near impossible to reach? Any tips, advice?
Peace, Love, and Happiness,

So today I realized, now, not only do I have a bonsai tree sprout, but I have 6, and there are probably more to come.
I am beyond excited, but I must put off naming the trees until I find out which ones will prevail.
I finally got back to the gym today after a 4 day stretch or laziness and busy-ness and boyfriendy-ness. Thank god I am back, because I have a lot of work to do.
Today I met one of the most famous conductors of his time, H. Robert Reynolds. He came to the Cole Conservatory to do a workshop with the Wind Symphony (which I play principle oboe in) and I have to say it was amazing. He was insightful, musical, inspiring, and just all together a wonderful person. Working with him really inspired me to work hard to become the conductor I want to be.
After he conducted our band, I introduced myself to him, and told him my goals and asked for advice on preparing myself for getting into a conducting program for grad school. What he said was simple and I wont ever forget it.
"Just be the best musician you can be"
And I will. :)

It's time for my close up! (And its time for me to go to bed so I will keep this short)
My Bonsai tree may possibly have a name: 小さい木
That is "small tree" in japanese...too bad I don't know how to pronounce it.
lol
Oh, and for those of you keeping track, it's about 3 centimeters tall as of today.
The talk with my roommate went very well. We all resolved everything and made everything better.
That is all I have time for tonight, except for one last thing...
What is in my picture with me?9 commentsFebruary 9th, 2010
