In 24 hours time i will sit my final exam as an undergraduate here at the University of Aberdeen.
in 26 it will all be over.
I've got ma wee dug up with me and we are enjoying some rare Scottish sunshine haha :3
I should probably go get ready and head to the library, but it's quite tranquil here, the leaves are a fresh green, the sky is hazy blue the seagulls glide high up in the distance.
Nats won be we had left just before. saw a homerun that was pretty sweet. got free shirts
earlier today i said cheerio with my host- they've been lovely tho not truly bonded with them as they were away for so long.
Was in the library of congress reading rooms today- very swish, didnt have time to get my documen though :/
also been to see 1776 at Ford's Theatre- where Lincoln was shot. It was great.
Got back to find my sis had sent me red troosers for my birthday!!! so bad they're good hahaha
now watching the late late shows 1500th show! Great to watch it live as compared to youtube :)
last night was fun, chinatown dc- police chasing random, metro guy suspicious of me,
today. well pfft where to start
cake- hot air ballooons/rocket planes/ 50 kids singing happy birthday
Hooters- with bird danc and all- for dinner
watched the dc caps beat florida panthers 4-2 in ice-hockey (hence the hairband)
really loved it, so much fun, such a busy and unique day- cant do it justice here.
USA tomorrow, i should be asleep but still packing... sure i'll forget something crucial haha
Today was a really great day
guess a weight of a cake, said hello to old work colleagues, watched our university Rector be paraded though the streets of Old Aberdeen atop his heelan coo (bull really) Angus- could play the pipes and all
free drinks at the pub in celebration, had them outside in the sunshine
played footy
had steak for tea
had a few drink, snooker and loads of gillet hugs with my friends
and tomorrow i will be in America for the first time in 10 years!!!!
I'm nervous excited- not about the travel, but 3 weeks is a long time, i'll miss my friends A LOT and hist family/work/dissertation will all be on my mind.
Anyway here is Mackie our new rector (he makes Mackie's ice cream) piping away enthusiastically haha
do get thse moments when a word or name sounds really oddlike you use it all the time but suddenly it looks and sounds strange
This happened today when I was wishing one of my first friends from school a happy birthday. I havn't really spoken or seen him in years, but we were the best of friends, from day 1, when he came over to the table i was sitting at - prob by myself- and said hi.
Theo, tha's his name, and that was the word that just seemed alien suddenly.
watched the man that htichhiked round ireland with his fridge- not a great film but fun otherwise.
Went to sleep nearing 7am this moring, watched the morning programme with the sports guy- his last day, i never usually catch or watch it.The french gunman house-seige and something about a parcel bomb in paris- sounded terrible!
eventally got my essay and 3 response papers in, took all day but got out just in time to catch some beautiful sunshin- rarity! Sat outside on the lawn next to Kings College and read a bit. just like the prospectus picture ahahaha
then i got a call from the library of congress today- that was exciting, i can go (when over there) and take pictures of this family document of which that is the only copy all for free!!
Washington DC IN 3 DAYS must packy pack packington as tomorrow night is party mode so probably not much getting done on Friday ahah
had a soooopah St Patricks day- went to see my southern irish grandma for lunch yesterday, then had my northern irish other grandma over for chinese with my cousin who is up from england and staying and my siter who is back for easter from Durham.
Mothers day today was lovely, got my ma flowers ( tulips) and then left her to make lunch and dinner and generally feed me as i work away.
brainstormed dissertation with my dad- helpful yet frightening at how much is to be done
got $$$$$$$ for washington which is in Tminus 5 and a bit days
also found my hat- not had this for aaaaages- that with my sis hockey gillet- lol i feel i should move to essex for some reason.
Went to a lecture on underwater acrhaeology given by my friend. Went to the pub afterwards- ran into my prof who hecled i hope you've got the reading done young man....i nervous laughed
After a few hours i headed home, with the intention of gyming / cooking dinner
ended up in the Bobbin(other Pub) with other friends, drank moooore, 2 friends didnt want togo out, the third, who was encouraging everyone then didnt because the one he focusses on didn't, im now mildly getting over this and expecting this reaction.
so 3 of us headed out to this birthday party, partly to look after my flatmate who was worried her ex would be there- he had been punched in the nose by our other friend morag...so some bad blood there.
He wasn't there, saw lots of friends, flatmate steaming, we eventually left this converted thearte night club, walked home wi fishnchips, ran into friends heading back for afterparty
it was lovel and died out slowly, great chats, funny funny people
and bed at 5:30am.
woke at 1pm, dundee in 2 hours, 'big' night for a birthday parrty.
sigh i'm tired. i smell and i just want to hug my dog (pictured)
