Umm.. may or may not be on my netbook.
My MacBook may or not have broken. Thanks heavens all my work was saved online, and that my netbook is synced with all said files.

Booked a Genius Bar appointment for Saturday. Have an inkling on what's wrong with my Mac, but for once I'm going to leave it to those more capable. If they can't do it for free then I'll attempt the home fix I have in mind. A real shame though, I'm gutted.

When any Windows-based machine I've owned has gone wrong I'd go into a fit of rage, blame the machine, hate Windows and curse everything Microsoft. My MacBook is different. The last few months have been a pleasurable experience. It's been rewarding and intuitive, and I trust it. My machine is 5 years old and customized, so I factored this in when taking a calm breath when it bust.

A shoddy end to an otherwise okay day.
Slightly down now, as it's put me in a kerfuffle.

At least for Windows stuff you don't need to go to a thing to get it fixed. Even a basic understanding of computers lets you fix most problems, even if it's a formatting.

That's where you're mostly wrong. I know what's wrong with my MacBook. It's in Kernel Panic (although someone did have to tell me this, and then I did some research and asked around). It's the Mac equivalent to Blue Screening. Difference here is that my Mac's OS is corrupted and won't even mount, so it doesn't recognise an OS on boot, and comes up with kernel errors.

It's mostly software related, but I've had hard drive problems previously on my Mac (as it's not a standard drive, and I bought it used), so another possibly is that it's suffering hard drive degradation. If so, cheap fix as I have OS X Snow Leopard on a disc.

I'm taking it to Apple because I don't want to home fix it I can help it. I'd prefer blame it on the software and see what it gets me, because my knowledge of Windows and OS X is minimal. Common sense level to fix whatever goes wrong, from hardware to basic OS issues. I adore my Mac and the months it's given me so far, and Apple have good to me and given me free repairs where they've been due, so I'd rather give my MacBook a proper chance at repairs before I do it myself.

Sorry. I've just had a lot of passive and overt digs directed at me since it's busted last night, and it's pissed me off because people are trying to re-convert me to Windows (I'm using a Windows netbook now), and are being all "lolol macs are gay".

And people say they never crash :P
So far as I know, actually getting into it would void the warrenty so... yeah. Fair enough you did learn then, I'd rather be wrong.

Haha. I learnt very quickly that they crash, although when I bought it, it came to me looking fine cosmetically, but the drive was working right and needed reformatting. Between now and last night it's worked a dream. So yeah. Simple issue.

It's a late 2007 White MacBook that was refurbished in 2008. So it's wayyyyyyy out of warranty, but still covered (in places) by Apple's quality policy. Just depends if I get lucky and they class it as under that policy like they did with my battery.
