So basically this week is my old high school's Ally Week, monday was aimed specifically for recognition of the recent suicides of gay youth as well as in support of Tolerance for the LGBT community as a whole.
However some students decided on this same day to wear "Straight Pride" shirts that on the back sported the famous old Leviticus bible quote " yada yada gays are an abomination and should be put to death" you've heard it before.
This has caused a massive uproar in my hometown and is getting quite a bit of media attention ( would be kinda fun if it got national) Anyway the students who wore the shirts claimed they were expressing their freedome of speech and were allowed to keep their shirts for the day. However the following day the school was informed of the Precedent case of Tinker vs. Des Moines which removed a students right to free speech if it put other students in danger or distrupts a learnign enviroment.
The T-Shirts are now banned at my high school, with no punishment to the students. However the battle over it continues to rage on. I am LIVID.
