Welcome to @nightiscoming! A man with an evocative name and one that has caused me to check his booth out before now. He is a self confessed nerd and would like to be 'there' rather than here (I think he seeks adventure of the outdoors)! Thank you for the plug for my website also (http://www.pictures-of-paradise.com) I really liked that.

Just watched 2012 and was thought it was pretty good, rather tainted with the hollywood stink but it's hard to avoid that with a large budget movie such as this. Only passing comments on the predictions of some civilisations that 2012 is the END but that is fine by me, I dont want to get on any bandwagons particularly...

Todays pic is from a night of chat with @MissLoto one night, we were comparing mugs/cups, got to keep up with @Pages2Type haha :P

@TrollingMan I respect your partiality, the blockbuster movie industry reeks of insincerity. I wouldn't say it was a terrible movie, but it has not changed my life in anyway...

A colorfool man with more time on his hands
than me.I LQQK up to the nerd coming.
For I hope I have the energy to put out
to hundreds of people each week in the
years to come as he does...

    2012..kinda neat...Reminded me of what
If you were a youngster like Serendip and myself
were when the movie EARTHQUAKE came out.
We thought is was BIG ACTION back then..
This generation needs movies like 2012s action
    to keep their attention.
    that's Hollywood.
    @TrollingMan can relate...
You must not have had a 16 year old come
through you @ any point in your life yet...
I liked Boondock Saints 2...nice one to add
    to your collection @nightiscoming.

What about Animation..Manga stuff..Like any of it?

Ghost in the Shell - An all time fav of mine.
    Came out in early 90's.

If you are a Matrix fan..
    You can see how HOLLYWOOD
    snagged it from the Japs...

The second one entitled INNOCENCE ..
    is OUTSTANDING.

Very much worth collecting in BLUE RAY
if there is such a thing for animation.

    Probably not the best clips..
But I must get to work..
A very interesting week to you S ...

@Serendip -- Yes, this is a very @Pages2Type image of you. I believe the motorcycle motif is more than coincidental, right? Eons ago (in DB time) I recall you writing that you'd spent more time in your life on motorbikes than in cars.

I think it's good to mix up the "self portrait through non-self portrait" images with occasional straightforward self portrait shots here. Not that there seem to be any rules in DB Land about this -- I just think it's a nicely balanced approach.

And trolling through your comments on other people's pages (yes, I'm following you everywhere in this medium -- don't be frightened, it's how I learn), it seems you might have some video(s) in the offing soon. Yes? No? I'd look forward to that!

Thanks for the mention here and you are most welcome!
I must confess that I really enjoy disaster, end of times, end of the earth films, and such fantasy. I can remember being in elementary school and about 9 years old, when we were rehearsing or practicing getting ready for nuclear attack with school drills. Houston, where I grew up, was said to be a target for obvious reasons.
OK, a bell would ring (which the teachers knew about ahead of time) and we would kneel down under our desks...as if that would be of any help really. lol
Even then it did not make any sense to me. I watched TV and saw how devastating a nuclear attack would be. I asked myself how is a desk going to be of any help?
Why did we do this...??? because of the Cuban Missile Crisis, which was a confrontation between the United States, the Soviet Union, and Cuba in October 1962, during the Cold War. It was rather scary for little kids. Sort of made many of us who grew up during this have an apocalyptic mentality and I suppose the way that I dealt with it was to imagine what it might be like if I were a survivor of these nuclear attacks, even if I did not think such an existence was possible. Soooo I am always entertained by movies and stories having to do with the end of times, and I sort of trace it back to my childhood. It must have been my way of dealing with the possibility of mass destruction, whether it be due to acts of God or man.
I was also entertained by Rod Serling (Twilight Zone) who was a multi-talented man and a good writer. His television series often focused on such issues as survival after some sort of destruction and the depressing feeling of being alone; lonesome. I loved that show, as well as the early Mel Gibson movies, like Mad Max (1979).
Anyway, these movies are an escape, I realize that, but not without reason, and they are fun besides. 2012 was amazing to me and a real roller coaster ride in the theater and later at home on my own TV in Blu-Ray. It appeals to the kid in me, I suppose. Some people are bored by these sort of films, but not me, and that is OK. Obviously I am not alone in enjoying these things because they do enjoy a comeback every few years!
    Bring them on!!! lol!!

@jimbonius and @Pages2Type haha, it was not meant as a copycat, so I can post it cause I liked it, but the fact that it is kinda mimicking Scotts style is cool aswell, so, yeah :)

    @jimbonius
Yes you recall correctly about my motorcycling history, but that is not the real reason I use the mug, but it was the reason I think that I was given the mug, by someone special, which is the reason I use the mug...

I agree about the mix of portraits and other. I noticed that when you go to the page that has the list of my pictures, there not a picture of me there, so it was time to show myself again hehe. It takes all sorts to make a world so this works for me but others can do their own thing and I will be ok with that too :)

And yes Jim, hahaha there will be a video shortly, I promise! I have had a lot going on lately and I also am kind of torn between strait simple footage (that I do really like) and edited, cleverclogs stuff. I like doing the clever stuff, but I don't understand the genre yet enough to know if it goes with the video, or if it sticks out awkwardly like... And music is an issue aswell... But I will upload soon.

Never under-estimate the common desk! You don't know where the blast is going to be or any of the circumstances, the desk might just make the difference between life and death. It is better than going out and watching it rolling in, or basically doing nothing.

There is nothing quite like End of Days to capture peoples imagination and attention, it is like the ultimate horror, without the horror (so much). The MadMax movies were awesome, but even they got kind of ritualised towards the end. I could have watched more of them if they had kept them personal, about the man and his life without the bigger picture interfereing so much, why do they all have to end up revolving around these kingpins like in 2012 with the president (yawn) like he is god or something?
As soon as you hook your plot into someone like the president of the USA your hands become locked into presenting a fairytale of righteousness and heroism!
    -
I want movies that expose characters like Woody Haroldson played in 2012! He was heroic!! But he was written off as a joke... It was all a bit too much slap-stick and last millisecond timing with no substance to the plot, it is all too common for the blockbuster big budget things these days.
    -
Twilight zone I remember but not that well, but it was personal, it had character depth! I guess that was kind of the golden age of movies where the viewing public was entirely innocent, they were captive to their screens and watched everything...

    Cheers :)

you have beautiful eyes. That is a super cool mug. I haven't seen the 2012 yet, people told me I should have watch it at the movies but the theme is not that interesting for me just because is meant to make people nervous like the 2K change of century disaster bla bla.. nothing happened.
I think its the same now. But its ok, I bet the movie was visually awesome, I want to watch it in blueray or something like that.
Big hugs and Im happy you made @nightiscoming your contact he is a really cool guy. YAYAYAY!!!! have a wonderful week-start! mwah!

Hey, I just found out that I'm a granduncle!!! That is, my nephew just became a dad :)

I watched the Manga clips and really really liked the music and imagery in the second link, it reminded me so much of Blade Runner! One of my all time favourites!! I love movies where the audience is allowed to feel for the villain. Possibly that would not be good for the censors, they would like good to be one side and evil to be the other side and never the twain shall meet, but life just is not like that!

Another example is the tv series, Firefly, directed by Joss Whedon (Sp on the surname). Firefly was so colourful and crammed full of unexpected things, I loved it to bits, but it was canned before it even finished its first season :( yet you get these movies about sparkly vampires taking their shirts off proliferating and having success, omg :|

Do you remember Towering Enferno? That was a hit back then hehe, I went to see it at the movies, but even then it didn't feed me in any way hardly, it just had me sitting on the edge of the seat...

This booth is turning into a writting epic hehe, but it is fun to take hollywood and the movie industry apart! It changes our minds as much as anything else in history has done, it needs to be taken appart and analysed :)
You have a great week start Sweetheart <3

Towering Inferno made it scary to go in tall buildings, particularly lifts. Jaws made it hard to go in the water. And the Poseidon Adventure made it hard to go on a cruise liner (although I did, and strangely it didn't turn upside down). On an unrelated matter, you really do suit blue @Serendip.
