Goodness my webcam is poor quality, but my phone was out of battery and such. So here we are.

And don't worry, the irony that I should be short of a camera to take a picture in which I'm clutching one is not lost on me.

I do hope you don't think me terribly "quirky" for using an old camera. It does take lovely pictures though, and is marvellous fun to use. Crucially, it comes with a charming leather case/papoose.

And who am I to say "no" to a papoose?

    Feline Fine.

Cat Puns. EXCELLENT (More are welcome).

Yesterday I went on a lovely autumnal Photography trip, had my face painted like a cat, and went to see The Importance Of Being Earnest in Edinburgh, in the most beautiful theatre.

    Yesterday was exquisite.

    Merry Peace-One-Day Day!

    Well, that was yesterday, really.

But fear not: I shouldn't have known either had we not baked a splendid amount of glittery cupcakes to "promote peace"; the power of the pretty cake is quite unparalleled: no one ever says no to a cupcake.

In other news I have a new favourite word: "psychopomp". I shall endeavour to use it wherever possible.

Tonight is a night for cardigans and snuggling.

    It really is frightfully cold.

It has been ever such a long time since last boothed, and for that I apologise. And so much has happened!

I've discovered a new favourite play (The Importance of Being Earnest, which is perfectly delightful), been introduced John Donne, marvelled at a meteor shower, engaged in much wordplay etc etc.

And, on the subject of poetry, and shooting stars: for English we have to write lots of Haikus; I shall include one I have written here:

    " Perseid

    A welt in the night
    Outlines infinity; brief
    Illumination."

Because one can ALWAYS be a better lady.

I bought this last week (it's utterly charming, and contains a delightful chapter about Afternoon Tea); perhaps showing the modernity of the place I holidayed, and hopefully alludes that the reason for my lack of boothing was a ghastly phone reception.

Still, I got to play a grand piano for the first time. In a castle. While on a tour there was a most exquisite, and quite old I believe, Bechenstein, which I played Clair de Lune on.

    IT WAS FREAKIN' WONDERFUL.

Other than that there was the usual variety of lacklustre walks and encouraging sunsets.

And now I have returned home to civilisation and am expecting my exam results in two days time. I'm only a little bit totally terrified.

So it's Summer now, and, like a good Housewife I've been baking.

Apart from edible domestic frivolities I also visited the Art Gallery recently. It was marvellous: a walk under the tree-lined avenues of Glasgow's West End (the only pretty part of Glasgow, but it really is heart-achingly lovely there), with a Frappuccino.

Upon arrival the huge organ was playing. Samuel Barber's "Adagio For Strings". Ignoring the seeming paradox, it was terribly beautiful.

Oh, and there's been a surprising amount of Melt-Worthy Muse on television recently.

I do like Summer, ever so much.

    Inmate chic?

Well I'm in sixth year now, and gloriouslU happy. No more maths: I now do photography, Advanced English, History and Music, and all are wonderful.

I get free periods now too; while not as Bohemian as I would have like (we haven't had one absinthe-fuelled picnic yet) there has been much gossiping, reading of Orwell and playing the piano. Splendid.

Photography also makes me happy as there is something intrinsically life-affirming in it: while paintings may allow fantasy and escapism, the beauty you capture in a photograph is real.It reminds me that the world's a pretty place.

Oh, and look, I'm only 998 cranes away from a wish.

    We are the dead.

I've just finished reading Ninteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell again. Definitely one of my favourite books. It's gorgeous. Well, not so much the dystopia, but the love story.

In other news most of my exams have went well, although I still have Art left. Oh, and so much socialising shall be partaken in soon, and I've got lots of outfits planned. One of which, is nautical-themed.

    Back to work then, Sailor.

We're all so enduringly (but perhaps not endearingly) British. Such talk of the weather! But it really was warm today. Almost over-poweringly so.

Although I'm a total weather slut; Girls Gone Wild but with more tea. And sitting in the sun. Also, I've been doing exams recently, hence my distasteful absence from here. Maths was vile, but then maths is always vile.

However, Study Leave as a whole has been spectacular: a girl could get used to sleeping until being woken by the touch of the sun; and feeling marvellously peaceful lying listening to the soft summer sounds outside; or just generally languishing lazily.

    Summer's a-comin', and I can't wait.

    I like tea-cups. Gosh they're pretty.

Sorry I haven't posted in so long, I've been feeling totally bleh recently. You know "bleh"? It's like "yarg"'s more non-commital, but surprisingly belligerent cousin? Quite.

However, in this time I did discover the poetry of Rilke, which is beautiful. Perhaps my favourite was this:

"Time and again, however well we know the landscape of love,
and the little church-yard with lamenting names,
and the frightfully silent ravine wherein all others
end: time and again we go out two together, under the old trees, and lie down again between the flowers, face to face with the sky."

But then I'm just taken in by anything hopelessly romantic.
