I'm fed up with being poor. Some might say I'm lucky to have been born in England, comparatively to elsewhere in the world, because we have measures in place to provide housing and enough money for bills, food, etc in benefits. But that's not even true. If our local council were looking after my family, we'd be living in a B&B. We were front page news for it. The 'postcode lottery' thing covers a lot of welfare issues. The only housing the council could offer us was a B&B miles away from the school me and my brothers were at when we didn't even have a car. So Mum had to privately rent, working like 3 jobs to earn enough to rent a house and feed us (economy drive style).
I've been lucky enough to find work since I was quite young and I've been lucky enough to have access to education, sure. But fucking hell, people that give such a shit about clothes and hair so much so that they never think about actual issues regarding living things trying to get by, people that talk about their travelling, holidays, birthday and christmas presents without even thinking about how completely unattainable those things are for others, people that are so proud to buy 'bargains' or eat cheaply when they wouldn't notice the difference if they weren't paying attention to the price of stuff (and half the time they don't), seriously, Fuck. Off.
Unless you've sat in the dark when the pay-as-you-go electricity has run out, or had to rent a TV because you've never had enough money at any one time to buy one, or had to eat the same pasta and tomato sauce all week Not out of choice but because you Had to, then FUCK OFF.
And all the time, trying to fit in when people talk about poverty as if it's this unknown 3rd world issue, it's not, England has a rich/poor divide like nothing else. If you've never noticed, it's because you're rich and everyone you've ever met is either rich, hiding their poverty or a 'chav'. If you think 'chavs' are a problem you can fuck off too
