Tomorrow, a geography exam - Decision Making Exercise - worth 25% of my overall GCSE grade.
Me right now? Slightly nervous. Though the fact that we had the ability to do practice questions that may well appear (or modifications of them) in the actual paper has made me slightly more confident in my abilities.
Now, however, I need to read this. My geography teacher has generously compiled all the revision notes that she possibly can into this: 2 double sided A3 sheets of the densest notes known to man.
My mission, read it.
It's so unbelievably dull.
Got to sit through most of tomorrow - including double chemistry, *yawn* - until my exam at 2PM, meaning I miss most of photography. Worst. Timing. Ever.
Ah well.
Wish me luck! >.<5 commentsJanuary 23rd, 2012

Today was fairly straightforward:
- Went to watch my brothers play in their second basketball tournament (they came 3rd out of 4, but had to give the other teams a chance as they won the first tournament outright ;D)
- Had a haircut
- Did a little photography coursework
- Read some Sherlock Holmes
In the evening, however... I went out for a meal! With the lovely Kat, as can be seen in the picture. I managed to find myself this lovely piece of shirt and coupled with a haircut, it's not too shabby :')
Starter: Breaded mushrooms with salad
Main: Properly spicy piri piri chicken with chips
Dessert: Raspberry ripple arctic roll-like thing in raspberry juice sauce, served with raspberries and raspberry-mixed whipped cream (yep, raspberry overload - good job I like raspberries!)
To be quite honest, it was a really fantastic evening out! Great food, great company, great laughs, and just generally perfect.
I've mentioned the word 'raspberry' far too many times in this booth XD
Need to get a load of photography that I missed out on doing due to the basketball done this evening, though.
Hope you've all had a good day!
Ciao!0 commentsJanuary 21st, 2012

Watched 'The Time Traveler's Wife' this evening.
By God, the book is far superior. Dear anyone who's watched that film and thought it was rubbish,
Read the book.
It explains everything. It actually gives a decent backstory to characters. It doesn't leave gaping holes and questions being asked left, right and centre.
Yeah, I wasn't a fan. I mean, the cast themselves are quite beautiful, and it's not too too bad, but it just doesn't go as in depth as I'd have liked it to.
The book itself is pure genius, just not done to justice in the film.
Anyhow, today was pretty dull. PE involved playing football: outside, in the rain. Not fun.
Biology was boring as usual.
French was pretty cool though - always is really, get stuff done and have a laugh. Sit next to my best friend and have the best teacher ^.^
Maths was dire. Apparently it's appropriate for us to be going through year 8 work, instead of the stupidly high mark questions that no one understands or got right in the mock exam. Logic works.
The weekend should be good. Fair amount of free time to get a load of photography done tomorrow afternoon, amongst some other stuff. Going out for a meal in the evening (WOO).
Sunday I'm going round Sam's house to join Nearside in band practice. They might have a gig! More on that as it happens.
Anything vaguely happen to you guys today?6 commentsJanuary 20th, 2012

It's the bit on the front of the box that you can't see here (and that I paid no attention to when I got the phone) that appears to be very important.
"I'm locked to the Tesco network."
Yes, yes, go away. At long last, I gave Tesco's Customer Care team a ring to see if I could get an unlocking code to move over to GiffGaff. I'm falling low on credit (87p) and need some good deals and need to swap over my SIM card.
After dealing with the woman from the North with a really bad cold and who was really slow at typing; being put on hold twice to listen to the quite dire hold music; and hung up on by the first woman, I got told my unlocking code was on its way! .... Sometime in the next 28 days.
Really, Tesco? Can't you just give me the code NOW so I can switch over? That'd be lovely, you know, so I can actually use my bloody phone.
Apparently it should arrive in a week, but really. I've already been sans-phone for a week while i waited for them to call, twice (I was at school on both occasions), and now another week.
Ah well. It's probably the best they can do, so I'm grateful for being able to do it for free. Certainly looking forward to switching over, though -- almost excited! God, I have no life! XD
Anyhow, I have French coursework to write and photography coursework to crack on with. That is all!15 commentsJanuary 19th, 2012

My photography coursework!
It's coming on quite nicely. Despite having to get 3 sketchbooks finished before the end of March, I personally think it's doable. I mean, I've got a geography exam on Tuesday, a French exam on the 1st & 2nd February and that's it then until May, though I may have another French one.
With any luck, I'll be getting some results back before the end of the month, and my sixth form application needs to be in by a week on Friday.
It's all go at the moment!
Got some down time on Saturday to relax and get more photography done before going out in the evening, and might be going out on Sunday, but I'm not sure just yet...
Fairly average day today, really.7 commentsJanuary 18th, 2012

General booth!
Not much has been going on recently. The weekend was rather stressful, but now that's all over and generally speaking I'm quite happy.
School today was rather dull. The person I didn't want to see didn't turn up, which is a good thing, and all the lessons were really boring.
Found out my DT mock grade: B. English: A*. I'll probably put my grade list up when I get it at the end of the month - quite excited now!
As for everything else, not much is happening. I'm really not motivated for photography coursework, despite the fact that I should really pull my finger out and get some done. Deadline for coursework is the end of the month, deadline for the exam prep is May. That's like 2 sketchbooks in 4 months. NEED TO DO SOME.
Short booth today. Nothing really to report. :)0 commentsJanuary 16th, 2012

Seeing as I look rough as anything today, here's what's just launched!
You may remember me speaking about working on the Nearside website a few booths ago, but now it's all launched and everything! We launched around half one this afternoon, and since then we've had over 50 unique visitors.
It's been a struggle, with some parts just plain and simple pissing me off, but I'm really proud of this one -- everything's working as it should and should be sustainable to leave everyone else posting for a short while, too :'D
Other than that, today's been a pretty productive day. I've printed off my resource booklet for my geography exam, as well as doing both geography and English homework -- huzzah! In addition, I've made some contact sheets for my photography coursework which I'll be working on this evening.
On top of all that, I've written yet another article at imediamonkey.com, which is viewable here: http://www.imediamonkey.com/spielberg-i-wont-direct-jurassic-park-4/
(my other articles are here: http://imediamonkey.com/author/samosborne )
I'll admit right now that this has been a very self-centred booth, pretty much a complete sell out right here :P
I'll drop the promotional act tomorrow, hopefully.
All in all, a very productive day! Homework-free for tomorrow, which is a fantastic sign! No more stress!0 commentsJanuary 14th, 2012

Successful French speaking exam booth!
As the title may suggest, I did better than I'd expected! I spent an awful lot of last night revising -- so, yes, all of it, hence no booth -- and the French lesson we had where we were meant to be prepping the next coursework, and most of English revising. Then, the time came, half way though English, to meet my impending doom.
Which turned out to be completely not doom-y at all and quite good! I got 18/20, which is an A* - huzzah! Especially huzzah when it counts for 15% of my final GCSE. That'll do nicely, me thinks.
I've spent tonight seeing Kat and doing geography homework, as well as writing a couple more articles for imediamonkey which I imagine will be online tomorrow sometime, which is always good.
Busy day today, I imagine that the remainder of the week will decrease in business, seeing as I've only English and photography left to do, the latter of which isn't overly urgent.
Has your day been busy, busy, busy?0 commentsJanuary 12th, 2012

Today was the Open Evening for my school's sixth form. I have far too much multi-coloured paraphernalia.
The evening itself wasn't too bad. Found out that biology want me on their course, but I don't want to bother because I hate it -- even if it wasn't my current teacher that was pestering me. I also found out that the IT team want me on the Computing course. I would if I didn't want to do Further Maths...
Other than that, I found out very little that I didn't already know. It's not too bad, but I need to speak to my maths teacher to see if I'm all right to do Further Maths next year. If not, I imagine I'll do computing, instead. Further Maths would be good, though.
I imagine I'm going to do English Language, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Have to hand in the application form by the end of the month, so I'll need to get everything signed by the respective teachers and whatnot (I think I need to get all of my subject teachers to write about me - fun).
I've got lots of French to learn for my speaking exam on Thursday, too. Need to ace that one to get a good grade overall -- counts as 15% so I can't cock it up.6 commentsJanuary 10th, 2012

I officially count as a journalist now! Or, at the very least, a reporter.
I've managed to land myself a volunteering job for imediamonkey, a website dealing with all sorts of media: TV, music, gaming, films, radio and technology.
I'm part of the film and gaming sections, and already have 3 articles to my name, with a 4th currently pending for review by my editor. Oh my, that actually sounds so cool to say: "Yeah, it's gone to my editor". It's the most pretentious thing I can say that's true XD
That's good news number 1 for today -- the whole thing's working as it should be like clockwork.
Good news number 2: I got a new mattress! My other mattress' springs were getting a bit old and were poking me through the fabric giving me back and neck ache. Hopefully I'll have a wonderful night's sleep tonight!
Good news number 3: I found my iPod! I'd managed to lose it, and took the liberty of searching under my bed when it was sans-mattress. In actual fact, it was behind the desk next to my bed, camouflaged in the dark by its black case. But it's back now and working!
Good news number 4: I got some exam results back today: biology - A* (well above what I expected); maths - A (not good enough for me to be honest); physics A* (perfect!).
All in all, as you can probably see, it's been a pretty awesome day. Still got a good hour or so before I go to bed, during which time I need to make a page for yet another website I'm dealing with and attempt to get an evaluation done for photography.
Ciao for now!0 commentsJanuary 9th, 2012
