This is my not-so-happy face. Amazon.com has come to an agreement with the State of Texas over a taxing dispute. The law states that Texas collects sales tax from store that has a store-front presence in the state. With Amazon.com not having any distribution of offices in the state, like so many other states, the state does not collect taxes on purchases made from Amazon.com. Thus when Brian buys something from them, he doesn't see a 8.5% sales tax tacked to that.
However, now they are opening an office in Texas to "creat 2,500 jobs" and start to collect taxes on Texas residents who make purchases on Amazon.com
Here's my problem with this. Yes, I understand that everyone, like myself, hates paying taxes, and as much as I don't want to be taxes by amazon, it's fine. Collect your taxes, Texas. BUT- if you think you're going to keep collecting more money you feel you deserve then STOP CUTTING EDUCATION.
Just STOP.0 commentsApril 30th, 2012

Who likes The Evil Dead? Reason I bring this up is because I really want to go see Cabin In the Woods, which has been compared to this and Scream. So, I'm really interested in watching Cabin.
Also, I want to see Cabin to keep adding to my procrastination efforts!
Here's what I have to do before midnight:
1. Write two papers
2. Make-up two labs and write a lab for the lab this past Friday
3. Write two articles, one being a profile article that is part of the final
4. Submit absence not to make-up a quiz and online assignment
And there are a bunch of other things, main one being to find an apartment to live in for the summer and move in within the week! SO MUCH.
What should I do? Homework?.....OR #MOVIE!!!
I think you already know MY vote :P0 commentsApril 29th, 2012

I'm so proud of my ever-growing collection of Criterion Collection movies. So here's the breakdown:
#30 M - I can't remember which started all of this, either this movie or Brazil. Both are excellent and I was first introduced to this particular title after watching Fritz Lang's earlier movie Metropolis (which I have three separate versions of that alone).
#51 Brazil
#65 Rushmore - Say what you will, but this is still one of my favorite Wes Anderson films!
#157 The Royal Tenenbaums
#165 Man Bites Dog
#300 The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - <3
#330 Au Revoir Les Enfants
#437 Vampyr - I slightly regret buying this movie. It's hard for me to come to the point of regretting a purchase, but this is one of those times.
#450 Bottle Rocket
#539 House
#540 The Darjeeling Limited
#542 Antichrist - So beautiful. So messed up, but so beautiful.
#534 Modern Times - This is always a good place to start if you have never seen a Charlie Chaplin movie, or if you're into talkies, then go with The Great Dictator.
#537 The Magician
#551 Cronos
#552 Broadcast News
#553 Fish Tank - After watching this, I was convinced that all British youth are troubled. #NoOffense or anything...
#562 Blow Out
#565 The Great Dictator - Charlie Chaplin is a Jewish barber who becomes mistaken as Hitler! What else can you ask for?!?
#594 Godzilla - This has probably the AWESOMEST packaging of all the Criterion movies I have! I'll totally upload more pics just of this package!
So that's it...for now. I have so many more that I want to buy. This is a somewhat a healthy addiction. Healthy because I could easily be smokin crack in the parking lot outside my room, but the somewhat comes in because my movie problem definitely breaks the bank,
Does anyone else have a #movie #addiction like me?!? What about #CriterionCollection movies? #Q What's your top 5 movies?5 commentsApril 29th, 2012

As requested by @twoeleven A NEW PICTURE!
So much has been happening!- this past Tuesday, I went to Austin at 1 in the morning, arrived in Bastrop, Texas, at 4 a.m. took pictures for 4 hours, then left back for Denton at about 8 a.m. So if you don't already know, this has been considered the "worst wildfire season in Texas." -Gov. Rick Perry
Thus, I went down to take pictures for the newspaper. So everyone should go check out the pictures I posted to flickr of the wildfire!
