January 1st is a great day to change the batteries in your home's smoke detectors. It's easy to remember and you've probably have some left over from Christmas. Also remember the average life-span for ANY smoke detector is 5 years. If yours are more than 5 years old, then replace them. Every year they loose sensitivity until they are completely useless. Just because they look new on the outside, doesn't mean they will work like new when you need them. Don't let the time we meet be purely business.
