I rode my seventeenth day of the season on March first in Revelstoke.
I clocked 28,320 of vertical over the course of twelve runs in five hours and fifty-six minutes. That's pretty good for getting up there late and leaving early!
Take a look at the board I rode. Notice anything about it that's different from my standard set-up?
Tons of nose and barely any tail, it's definitely no twin-tip but rather a totally awesome directional powder shred stick! It's sooo gnar for floating over waist-deep pow and super maneuverable despite being the longest board I've ever ridden (161cm).
It took a bit to get used to but by the end of the day I was charging down chopped up pow lines at blazing fast speeds as if they were groomers!
It was a powder day but by the time we got there from Golden in the morning it was mostly slashed. Good times though! Met some rad ski bums from Quebec and Germany respectively, they'd only done 56 days the season so far.
The first time I drove through Revelstoke I fell in love.
The people are rad, the town is rad, the surrounding area is rad. There were more people skateboarding and biking down the streets in the summer than people in cars.
Don't even get me started on the snowboarding!
It's really a no bullshit mountain, totally my scene, I'd take it over Whistler any day. It also has the potential to be bigger and better than Whistler if given enough funds for lift expansion.
There's no rain, way smaller crowds, more hardcore riders, no "slope watch", a majority of riders wear transceivers at all times, mitts far outnumber gloves, everyone has their gear TUCKED IN and there's technically no park, (cliffs for kickers and trees for jibs). They're supposed to get over 100cm fresh by the end of the week, at least 10cm a DAY.
TWO out of the 54 runs on the mountain are green, (for beginners). I think the other 52 runs are divided up with 32 being black, (for advanced/expert riders only), and the last 20 being blue, (for intermediate riders).

I actually took this picture upside-down, but hey ho :P
I forgot to mention I saw 127 hours yesterday, which was really really good :)
This wasn't technically my class, but a lot of us got our picture taken for a paper when we got our GCSE's, so yeah ^.^
Have you ever had your picture taken for a newspaper?January 23rd, 2011
