Y is for yellow, which is quite possibly the most pleasant colour in existence.
Also, Y looks sort of like a person... with no head... with their arms up about to hug someone... which I am now doing to the lovely @MegzyMoon in a virtual sense. ♥September 23rd, 2011

Prior to 2001, September 11th was notable for many reasons. In 9 AD, the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest ended. In 1541, the Chilean city of Santiago is destroyed by indigenous warriors. In 1792 the French crown jewels were stolen. In 1847, the song "Oh! Susanna" was first played in a Pittsburgh saloon. In 1919, the US Marines invaded Honduras. In 1941, construction of the Pentagon begins. In 1997, the Mars Global Surveyor reached Mars.
And then in 2001, everything changed.
The attack was not just against America. It was an attack on the world at large. New York may have been the target, but it was against the values of freedom, tolerance and decency which underpin our way of life.
Those attacks - in particular the moment when the second plane crashed and everyone realised that this was no accident - those attacks set the Noughties in motion, as we flew through a gate of fire into the third millennium. The images, the ideas and the stories are cemented in the memories of anyone alive at the time. It changed everything, from the stunning skyline of New York, to the very core beliefs and attitudes of individuals.
We will never forget those that died, and we will never forget the events that transpired that Tuesday. While humans are capable of immense compassion, they are also capable of intense cruelty, more-so than any other species. I will never be able to understand anyone who would support such an act. Let us hope we never have to see anything like that again in our lives.
