18:18 It's only a theory . .

Girls get called sluts if they sleep around because its easy for them to get sex, so if they go round sleeping with heaps of people, its easy for them to do so, because guys are (stereotypically) desperate for sex.

Guys don't get called sluts (half as much) because its harder for them to get sex, because girls usually want to get to know them so the guy has to work at it.

EG. If a guy went up to a girl and said "Wanna have sex?" he'd probably get a slap. If a girl went up to a guy and was like "Wanna have sex?" he'd be like HELL YES!

If you're subscribed to Ray William Johnson's BreakingNYC channel then you'll have seen him talk about this, which is where I got it from.

I really like this theory and kind of completely agree with it.

Thoughts?

EDIT TO THOSE OF YOU WHO SAY ITS A GENERALISATION: WHAT I MEANT WAS, THIS RULE APPLIES TO GIRLS IF THEY GET CALLED SLUTS, NOT ME SAYING ALL GIRLS WHO SLEEP AROUND ARE SLUTS, AND GUYS IF THEY TRY HARD TO GET SEX, NOT JUST ALL GUYS!

When a girl sleeps around she is called a slut.

People are like locks, if you have a shit ton of keys work for one lock, it's a shitty lock.
If only ONE key works for one lock, that makes it a damn good lock.

It's related to that. The cost and responsibility of a women getting pregnant is more than a man's fathering a child. Men can have literally dozens of children with different partners. Women can only have a fraction of that. So women need to be picker in who they do and do not sleep with.

I don't like the word slut for either boys or girls. In my opinion once old enough to be responsible and sensible about sex, the number of partners is not important at all. Not everyone is lucky enough to find someone for a long lasting relationship and do end up sleeping with numerous people.

I disagree with this - if there are women who are willing to sleep with loads of men, then how is it harder for men to get sex? Both sexes are as bad as each other; the only reason men get away with it is because of out-dated attitudes. It's the kind of thinking that makes giving birth to a boy a celebration and a girl a disappointment. :( I agree that people tend to be tougher on females because they have to deal with the physical consequences of pregnancy, but the only reason males get away with it is due to an accepted lack of shared responsibilty. Also, aren't men just as likely to have STIs, hence making them equally as 'dirty'? I do not like the word 'slut', but if a woman is one then her male counterpart must be one too.

@Sazmerelda yeah but what i meant was, it applies to men and women who get called sluts or men who don't but do the same things that the women who get called sluts do. not just all men and women hahah! PAHHA! im rather concerned as well!

    @LaLaLauryn yeeaahh :\\

@ODDBALL well there are always some women who are total whores but if a man doesn't come across that woman and he is a man who is desperate for sex, then he would probably have to "get to know" the woman, stereotypically. obviously this doesn;t happen in ALL cases but i meant that women who get called sluts, this is why. it doesnt necessarily apply to both parties because the man or woman may have slept with more people in a certain amount of time than the other, or whatever.

@ads89 hahahah im glad you read that last bit! no i don't like the word slut, but you understand what i mean? i guesssss so but i still think if you just sleep with a ton of people because you can then its a little bit over self indulgent.

@toriface yeahhh i wasn't really saying that all men and women are like this, i was just saying it applies to men and women who get called sluts or men who don't but do the same things that the women who get called sluts do. not just all men and women!

The girls with the brains are the only good kind.
The girls with self confidence are the only trouble makers.
The girls with all the boys, has found a liking to sex.
The boy, who -more socially acceptable (thus a stereotype)- is able to admit liking sex, is then a barbarian.
    Stereotypes are great.

If a girl ran up to me and asked for sex, you have to take in mind who the girl is (seeing as the guy is me in this scenario).
If a guy ran up to a girl and asked for sex, you have to take in mind who the guy is (as well as the girl).
    Different outcomes for different people.

Sounds to me someones a tad ignorant.
