    Hair is much darker at the moment almost black.. 0_0 My mum thought it would be fun to die it a slighter lighter brown ... it turned out red and so we had to die it darker so I would look normal enough. Oh well not that big a deal.

    Not up to much today just prepping monologues for a big audition this weekend. Nervous already. Still can't decide whether to go the dramatic or comedic route..

    What have you all been up to? When was the last time you were nervous!

    My first poster. Kind of strange yet exciting. Never immagined it would ever happen. When I got the email my heart beat frantically just looking at the thumnail hoping it would be ok. I'm actually happy with it. The director and crew did a great job.

    In the next few days I'll put up some of the publicity shots too. Also looking forward to the Wellington Sevens.. need to buy a costume in the morning. I'm thinking a gyspy, native american or pirate as those costumes aren't skimpy and go past the knee. Or if I'm lazy I could put on a lei stick a flower behind my ear and wear normal clothes and go semi polynesian style. Or I could dress up as a surgeon with the long blue scrubs.

    I'll have to see what they have I guess..

    "Nutty play gets major awards"

    Was reading the paper in bed and looking at a movie review on the right hand page when I spotted a photo from my last play featuring my stage parents on the left hand page. Didn't expect that the awards the play won would be talked about in the paper ha ha. Neat for the play to get recognition though as everyone worked hard and we sure had a blast putting it on.

    Getting measured for my costume tomorrow (current play). I've seen the designers sketches and am in love with the dress even though it's not what I expected. It incorporates fairytale romantic elements with a hint of darkness and a modern edginess. They may end up going for color but at the moment it's a take on a little black dress. Full skirt with layers that reaches just above the knee to knee, floral lace detail on the side of the bodice, subtle ruffles on the front, long sleeves with ruffles around the wrists. Ok it sounds like a ruffley prom dress gone wrong but it's incredible if you could see it. It's the sort of the dress I would love to wear in real life.. say to the Opera. As for hair we are probably going for a Marie Antoniette inspired big up do. I've always loved Marie Antoniettes hair and costumes in movies, plays ect.. and so am secretly quite chuffed.

    Hope you all enjoyed the festive season :-) What did you get up to?

    I enjoyed it all apart from being stung by jellyfish while snorkelling with the seascooter . 0_0 How did they manage to sting my feet, both arms, neck, lip within 20 seconds?

    Anyone else find it hard to slip back into ordinary routine? I have got something to look forward to though a lakeside mini break on the 15th-18th of Jan.

    My last play "My husband's nuts" won the BEST COMEDY :D award tonight at the Antoinette Awards which is the regional theatre federeations awards ceremony. There were so many plays entered this year... so it was a real thrill. I'm immensly proud of everyone involved especially our director as she was a pleasure to work with and believed in me before I had any ounce of self belief. She also inspired me to auditon for my newest role.

    Talking of which eek ha ha alongside the programs on the table were green flyers advertising the play and it isn't on till Feb. We must have an awesome publicist.

    Anyhow I had a brilliant night out and got to catch up with a few cast and crew members from previous plays. It was also nice to see actors from other plays I've watched off stage and to be able to support others with the same passion.

    So tired though neighbours had a party till 5am and had an early morning rehearsal so haven't had any sleep...

    Impossible to take a photo in this light..

    anyhow red christmas nails. Actually thought I'd paint them for a function tomorrow night. I don't normally do bright nail polish..don't like to stand out.. but got this one in the OPI muppets set from my mum. I actually quite like it. Saw on rottentomato site that the movie got 98% positive reviews! Quite surprised might have to see it afterall.

    Q. If someone walked into your house what signs would they have that it's less than one month till Christmas?
    We've been quite lazy I guess only an advent chocolate calender and um my nails ha ha? I guess I should get the Christmas tree up and maybe a few lights in the windows. We have some window stickers somewhere too.

    Saw a grow your own Christmas tree in 24 hours kit at the bookstore that I was so tempted to get. It reminds me of the packs as a kid where you grew crystal like trees.

    Seriously??? A mature (as in age not behaviour) woman who saw me in my last show walked up to me after the read through today for my next show and threw a fit.. literally jumped and down like a chihuahua on steriods throwing her arms about cornering me next to a table and told me how offended she was and how the script was crap ect.. Sure you don't have to like the play but you shouldn't scream or hurl insults at people. I was nothing but polite to her. She knew she didn't like the script writer or his humor and she read the blurb but she still turned up and was surprised when she offended! Plus there was no profanity, nudity, swearing ect.. She was offended at the way the play potrayed farmers .. she's a wealthy citywoman herself ... yet we had farmers come to the show who thought the potrayal and script was accurate.

    I guess you can't please everyone. I think it's rude that she took all her anger out on me infront of the new cast. I don't think she's happy someone from her least fav theatre is now at her theatre. Yikes.. Also got the impression she judged me by her character who yes.. granted is a bit of a bitch.. but you shouldn't judge an actor you haven't talked to before from whats on film or stage.

    Mind you I have heard of actors getting hit or hurled abuse at on the street.. people sometimes get confused between reality and entertainment.

    Feel a bit shaken up being an idealist who wants everyone to be pilote and cordial and ok a little angry she said nasty personal things about my director and cast mates who I've grown close to. I do hope that play gets an award now of some sort he he he next weekend.

    Anyhow I guess my dads right respect everyone and your elders but when someone .. any gender, race or age treats you really badly that respect is withheld.

    Anyhow everyone else was nice and its a new week in the morning.. fresh start.

    Never thought I'd get an award for finding my inner b****! The play's over and the director gave me this certificate as she thinks I'm the sweetest girl in real life but really found the angsty minipulative edge Charlie my character needed.

    Will be interesting to watch the dvd when I get my hands on one. :-) Thinking about auditioning for two plays in the next two weeks.. but get that nervous feeling all over again. One play "sleeping beauty" is auditioning this weekend. It would be fun to play the good fairy or even continuing the bad streak and playing the evil fairy. Mwahhhh! Although this theatre is far away from my house and so many people are auditioning.

    Anyhow what an amazing three weeks! Also proud I could improv and could carry on a scene one night when one of the actors was incredibly sick and rushed off stage. Thankfully I knew his lines and was able to incoporate them with mine in a way that made sense and gave the audience the info they needed while working with the other actress. No one knew anything thing went wrong.

    Anyhow should be around more often now that I don't have any current performances or rehearsals.

    Any one been ice skating?

    Smiley photo despite having a pile of assignments to complete. I'm looking forward to the weekend and perhaps ice skating at the temporary rink built on the wharf.

    I've been ice skating once.. and only fell over once.. however I stayed close to the side of the rink the whole time ha ha. This rink however is outdoors and in the middle of the city so hopefully it won't be too embarassing.

    Have you ever been on a farm?

    Earlier today I had a photoshoot on a farm for a play I'm in.. which is set on a farm. I got to wear my bright shiny new red gumboots.. I've never owned a pair in my life. Yes, I live in NZ.. but nope I don't live on a farm. Although my character wore pink heels in most of the photographs. As she thinks she's a city slicker. Hahaha..

    Anyhow it was the most fun I've had on a shoot.. lots of laughs and a great photographer who was friendly and gave great direction. My fav photos were trudging up a dirt track with a giant bag.. in bright pink heels.. as my characters mum forgot to pick her up from the station. Others were near cows, on a quad bike and infront of a big red barn.

    Can't wait to see how the promotional shots look.. :-)

Movies

Too many to name. As a student of media studies and an actress I can't get enough of them. A few movies I like are ''Death at a Funeral'', ''Little Miss Sunshine'' and ''Amelie''. However I love foriegn films, one does get sick of hearing English all day ever day and the French/Italian plots seem to be more original than the sterotypical plots of Hollywood movies.
