Hiding from a ring wraith/nazgul.... THIS IS THE SPOT. This is the very place that Frodo (Elijah Wood), Sam, Merry, and Pippin all hid from the dark rider after Frodo yelled "Off the road!". Ironically this location is within the city of Wellington and just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Unfortunately, the tree they hid under was all movie magic and non-existant, created from one of the author's sketches... but, the trees in the background are all real (and Stef even stole part of a stick that was actually in the movie!). We'll probably be headed to Hobbiton in a month or so, but even still, it is nice that we actually were at the very spot that they filmed a rather memorable scene.

Besides that, we spent our only full day in Wellington, New Zealand's capital city going to Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand. I actually have seen photos of one of their exhibits long before even considering coming here, because this is the only place in the world you can publicly see a colossal squid, the world's largest invertebrate, and as some of you know, I'm a rather big fan of mollusks.

Tomorrow, we take the bus to Hastings in Hawke's Bay where we will WWOOF tomorrow onwards.... who knows if I'll be able to booth for a while... so I may have to catch up again (as of this booth I'm finally caught up on booths too... le sigh). But, at the very least it will be nice not spending money.
