    Happy Fat Tuesday!

Now THIS is a celebration I can get behind! Xydeco, Margueritas, some byootimus gumbo. Oh, and PANCAKES! And lots of revelry.

Yeah. I much prefer this one.

So, who's excited about the little trouble maker showing up again this year? I mean, besides corporate marketing people *cough* mindcontrolexperts *cough* and the bean-counters?

And now for something completely different...

    Chirgilchin - Homudal (Lonely Man)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ib5YHTAfOU

    Translation:

    If I should be alone
I would be alone like an eagle
Had I been born an eagle
I, too, would pleat a nest on the cliffs of Een-ne

    If I should be alone
I would be alone like a falcon
Had I been born a falcon
I, too, would pleat a nest on the cliffs of Kakpa

    Wandering and roaming
Somewhere I will stumble and fall
    The yellow sand worms
    Pleased to devour my flesh

Unnoticed, I will leave this life
And give myself over to darkness
    Black beetles on thorn bushes
    Drunk on my blood

    On what mountain
    Will my strong body lie?
    On what day
    Will my singing voice break?

The video portion is completely dark, but it's all about the music anyway. I was stranded in a rather desolate place for a while yesterday, and the experience (not to mention an exchange of comments with @MrVisions ) put me in mind of this song.

    These guys are masters.

Um...I believe I ordered a St, Bernard yesterday...?

    The Pres. called it "Snowmageddon"

Some other intolerably cute ones the local weather people came up with:

    "Snowpacalypse"
    "Snowverkill"
    "Snowverblown"

The one I prefer: "SNO OVER IT!"

But since no one arrived on a snowmobile to bear me off to the tropics, I have no choice. I must now go out to play in it.

It's been snowing for the last 12 hours (we've already gotten about 2 ft./60'ish cm.), and it's supposed to go on for another 12 hours more.

I love snow, but... I give already.

Anybody got a spare St. Bernard + cask of brandy? Better yet, got a snowmobile? Get me to the nearest open airport and I'll spring for tix to the tropics.

Been busy these last days. A small publishing outfit has requested a full manuscript of one of my novels, and I felt compelled (in an OCD kind of way) to polish the ms. one last time.If they accept it, this will be my first novel in print. Wish me luck!

You can read a few chapters of it here:

    http://www.jalbertbell.com/novels.html

It's the one entitled, "Slipstream: the Story of an Unlikely Young Superhero." Not sure how long I'll be able to keep all these chapters up if the publisher accepts.

(Pic - Unknown. It's a photoshop a friend made for me, acting as a placeholder until we get the artwork for Slipstream sorted out. If anyone knows who the model or photographer are, speak up. I hate to use anyone's intellectual property without permission, or without at least giving them credit.)

This is what happens when you don't have the time, energy or enough cleverness at hand for a proper booth.

Blame @batman for this one, for griping at me to booth :)

Quick, somebody else say something clever!

This is my friend Stinky, back when he was just a kit. It's a lousy pic, I know, but one of the only ones I have. I wish I'd taken more of him back then, back when he was ridiculously full of energy and mischief.

He's sort of the reason I haven't boothed much these last days. He's almost 8 yrs. old now, and having a rough time of it. He has insulinoma (a tumor on the pancreas, which effects them like diabetes in humans), and he's had a bad few days. There's a surgery for it, but the doc says he probably wouldn't survive it.

He's resting comfortably now, back to being affectionate and always wanting to be around me. But I can see the good days getting fewer and far between. So now I have start thinking about things to come. As long as he's able to still enjoy a few things, I'll give him as much joy as I can. But at some point, I know, I'll have a big decision to make. Do I make him as comfortable as I can, hope he passes with as little difficulty as possible? Or do I help my little friend die, send him on his way quickly, quietly, and most importantly, painlessly?

I've never had to make this decision before, and I hate it. But he's been with me nearly every day of his life, and he's been a best friend. I owe it to him to make the right one.

I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone else who's been through this before. I wouldn't mind hearing from you even if you haven't.

Damn. Most sincere apologies for the Bummer Booth.

Joseph Leonardson is a 46 year old male from United States.

About

Restless traveller, ranting street-prophet, defender of hopeless causes. Unapologetic troublemaker.

MysticPunk author/artist and teller of tall, queer tales.

I've never heard an opinion I couldn't muster some healthy skepticism for (particularly my own), or encountered a well-meaning delusion I couldn't find some reason to love.

I also like sushi.
