Are you a part of the 99% or the 53%? Do you prefer not to be categorized as either? Is Occupy Wall Street just a bunch of hippies that need to get jobs? If you are a part of the 99% movement, what is it that keeps you out on the streets? ..do you have any idea what the hell I'm talking about!?

    "a bunch of hippies that need to get jobs" is often said, without realising the obvious fact there are either no jobs nearby or that someone (like my gf in uni) literally doesn't have the time to work.

    And I do mean that literally. Her uni has forced extra shit for her to take meaning that even though she really wants to keep working, she can't, which means she'll lose her financial aid because she's not working.
    Shit logic? Yes.

    Plus the 53% point out how they work every small-time job they can and save and don't do anything except work/study. And... this isn't a problem, why?

    By definition the 53% is part of the 99% but the 53% seem to me to be putting on heirs. The 53% premise is "I've worked hard for what I've got!" implying that those that have little or nothing need only blame themselves. I don't buy the rugged individualism line.

    I have not been to #OccupyMN since this past Saturday. By that day I had been there 6 of the 8 days since it started. While not as elegant as taking my frustration to the foot of the altar of unchecked greed, I think it still sends a message in solidarity to people like yourself and others.

    The debate has already shifted away from the economy and debt ceilings and towards jobs. Jobs is what we need right away.

    I like the leaderless, horizontally organized model it is following. I have likened it to a new internet startup. In the beginning it's all about expanding the user base. The application has only a rudimentary functionality and will be adjusted as time passes.
