I am approximately here. You know who else is here, in my city of Nagoya for a tournament? SUMO WRESTLERS. In related news, the earth has shifted a few miles off orbit this afternoon.
I also finished one of my biggest video projects yet -- and I'm not even in the video -- it's a translation I did of skit from a Japanese comedy group I really like. Check it out-- they impersonate Americans!:
The grad student behind me and I are both are giving presentations today on our research. She has been here all night working on her presentation, but I have been here making videos! Wee!
Introducing HikoNyan, the mascot of Hikone (where I studied abroad four years back) and an attempt at the likeness of Ii Naosuke, a Lord of the Tokugawa Shogunate, and all-around BAMF. I don't think the cat does him justice, but HikoNyan sure is popular.
In Japan, the land of all things cute and adorable, even historical figures are fair game.
Just finishing my first honest-to-god, cooked-it-myself food here in Japan. They are called おにぎり (onigiri), and it's basically rice packed with whatever suits your fancy. This one has bits of seaweed and sesame seeds-- NOM.
On the other side, there are flowers-- hooray! I mean, on US dollars, I totally don't recall us having a pyramid with a freakish looking eye at the top of it.
