This is my actual booth for today. Wanted to grab something to eat around 11am, so I headed to my car and...battery was dead. Apparently I left an interior light on, which is weird for me because I never, EVER forget to turn them off.

That naturally delayed breakfast while I worked on getting my car jumpstarted.

Afterwards, I drove down the street to Taco Bell (having a Taco Bell within a mile or so from where you live should increase the value of your house, IMO) so I could try that new Beefy Crunch Burrito that I'd been seeing in a bunch of commercials lately. Spicy Fritos mixed into a Burrito? I'm not a big fan of burritos in general, but I figured I'd give it a shot. Afterall, it's only 99 cents.

My first impression (which you probably can't tell from this pic, since I'd eaten over half of it before I thought to snap this) was...this thing is huge! Seriously, for 99 cents, this burrito is surprisingly large.

As far as the spicy crunch part, that was good too. One thing to note would be, if you order multiple ones, you probably need to eat them in a relatively short time. For example, I ate 2 in the car, and then left the 3rd on my kitchen counter for a bit once I got back home. By the time I unwrapped that one and bit into it, those spicy Fritos had gotten soggy and there was no more crunch left to it.

I'm heading back out the door now, so until tomorrow DB, stay awesome.

About to get ready for the morning. Someone wanted to see the video from that sandstorm in the previous photo, but unfortunately it was stored on an external HD that's having some issues right now, so it's inaccessible until I get around to picking up another HD to replace it.

But...BUT! One of the other Marines in my platoon happened to upload all the photos he took of the sandstorm to his Facebook, so hit the comments and you can see the sandstorm as a sort of slideshow.

    Good times. :P

Heh, this was taken during my first deployment.

Usually during blizzard-esque sandstorms, everyone hops into their Humvees (or whatever shelter is handy) and buttons up the hatches to prevent the sand from getting everywhere. I wanted to get a video of the sandstorm washing over our outpost, so I put on my Goretex (jacket/pants) and gas mask, then waited for the storm to blow through.

Sadly, the result was a lot less epic than this picture might make it seem.

Someone commented on the fact that I'd been enlisted in the Marine Corps previously, so I figured I'd upload a pair of photos from my time in.

This first one is from my 2nd deployment in Iraq, taken while we were in Camp Fallujah.

The large vehicle behind me is known as a 7-Ton. You can think of it as sort of a military dump truck. Depending on it's configuration, it can carry troops, and/or gear/supplies. The ones used by the infantry battalions (like the one I was in) generally are used to carry troops during most missions.

There always seemed to be a very limited amount of Marines who had taken the 7-Ton driving course, so even while I was usually doing other things, I'd get pulled at random to drive that behemoth if they were short a licensed 7-Ton driver.

The contraption on the front is a "mine roller". The mine-roller is typically attached to the lead vehicle in a convoy, and their purpose is to hopefully detonate any pressure-plate IEDs before they blow up the actual vehicle. Pressure-plate IEDs are the ones that blow up as you drive over/onto them, as opposed to remote (wired or wireless) IEDs, which are manually detonated by a person with the trigger/remote.

The mine roller is controlled by a joystick which is located in the front cab (where the driver sits). Depending on circumstances, I think the "A-driver" (the guy who rides shotgun in the cab) is *supposed* to control the mine-roller, while the driver focuses on driving the actual 7-Ton, but with a little practice, I usually ended up steering the 7-Ton with one hand and operating the mine-roller with the other one. Reason for that, when the mine-roller reaches it's maximum movement to either the left or right, it lurches the hell out of the 7-Ton in that direction. If the driver isn't expecting it, and actually counter-steering to compensate, the 7-Ton can actually get pulled a couple of feet in that direction. That becomes a bigger problem when you're navigating any area that is narrow (and lots of areas are "narrow" when you're driving a giant truck).

So I wasn't driving one-handed to "be cool", but for a practical reason. Though admittedly, it was fun :)

This feels about right to start off this morning.

I used to have this scene set as my alarm on my phone in the morning.

Heading out of town in a couple hours to visit the relatives. So I suppose I should start getting ready.

Figured it's only fair to post a real picture as well, even if this one is a tad out of date. Taken probably, a year and a half ago? Shortly after I finished my enlistment in the Marine Corps. I've grown out my hair since then. A lot. :)

This was outside my Uncle's house, I actually don't remember this picture being taken. I was quite possibly retrieving a Gameboy from the car to show a game to my younger cousins.

Anyone else have a photo they don't remember being taken? :)

Setting up this account for use in the New Year ahead. I've been sick this past week, so I'll get around to snapping a recent photo just as soon as I kick this flu. Maybe tomorrow on Christmas? One can hope. :)

Figured as an alternative, I'd start off with this picture, and see how many recognized it. Next I'll go random through a bunch of Boothers, and add say...100 people that seem interesting? Yeah, that should make for a decent start on here, I suppose.
