I'm @ashleyfox and this is my first and only (for another month or so) tattoo!
It says "Just Breathe" which is taken from a Brighten song of the same name. Brighten is one of my favorite bands, and is 'fronted' by Justin Richards, who is in turn one of my favorite people, and someone I look to for inspiration. I got a chance to meet him in July and approached him with my idea. I also asked if he wouldn't mind writing out the phrase for me so that I could get it done in his handwriting. He was so thankful and excited about the idea that he immediately wrote it 9 times on paper. I then took that it when I went to get the tattoo, and I am very proud to say that I have his words and handwriting on my body.
I love it because I know that it's his writing, he knows, and people around me know, but it's also somewhat generic. The phrase is also a favorite of mine because it is held in a place close to my heart because of the song and Brighten, but also works in many other ways. There have been a lot of crazy instances in my life (strokes, house fires, deaths, ect) and I've been the main support for my family through it all, and it is just in remembrance that no matter what happens, you just need to take a step back and breathe, everything will work out. Also, I plan to someday enter into the music industry and it's a goal I've been told is stupid many times over and over, and the phrase also plays into that, telling myself to just breathe and go on my way, I can do what I set myself to do.
The music notes clearly have a very obvious connection, to the lyrics, my life/career goal/choice and just my passion for it in general. The dandelion represents a sense of whimsicalness and almost a sense of naiveness, in my opinion.
