Only took me two different browsers, two different webcams, updating flash player and clearing all my internet cookies (mmm cookies) to get db to save my photo... not sure if it was worth it, but at least db sems to be working now : )

Today, i watched the flim premiere thing on tv about One Day, and it looks alright, i suppose. Anne Hathaway as Emma looks like a really good casting, plus she is super super beautiful... ; ) I just have a small really bad feeling that they will ruin the book for me if i go to see the film now, had lots of people at the premiere claiming that they cried while reading the book...man up! It was sad, yes, especially the ending, but i've read more emotional stuff, that said it was a really, really good book so don't think I'm slighting it, well worth a read.

Just under 2 weeks now til i go back to uni... so excited! Made plans with Jonny to hit his freshers in Edinburgh, and possibly he will come to mine, although Stirling's is rubbish imo, peaches geldof is our main attraction...eugh!!

Jonny keeps telling me that he's going to camp outside Edinburgh's union to make sure he gets tickets to see S Club 7 ... and I think he might be serious, which is pretty scary!

Finally finished Tess of the D'urbervilles last week, really enjoyed it once i got into it, i was going to quit after the first 1/3rd or so as it was really, really boring, but kept at it , thanks to the recommendation of someone on shelfari (love that site!) and really enjoyed it. Plus i'm now up to 17 books read this year, making good progress towards my target of 20 : D

Just dreaming of my student loan money for the minute, saw a really nice blazer on E+ms the other day but, um, i think i should probably stick to basics like food, water rent etc , since last year was such a financial management fail.(Note: this will not work, i will cave and spend all the loan money first week, not even taking bets on this it's such a surity)

ALso , someone please please gimme a bloody job. All of my past 20+ outgoing emails have been job applications, which is a bit depressing : (

On a brighter note, i think my rent is going to be paid on time and after this month i shouldn't have any worries, woo! Going to play some football manager now and then bed, probably at a very late hour. C YA

    Hey again.

Didn't expect to be boothing tonight, but somehow we got our internet (kind of) fixed.

Think I take the internet for granted, oh and also i realize i always write way too much on here, but i guess i've started using DB as more of a blog than anything else, I'm never sure what exactly the purpose of DB is ... but annnnyway!

My left eye is totally red, I really hate hayfever.

Been listening all day to this song :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFvl2qsFLCs

RHCP have so so many good songs, and they're so much more appealing to me now that I can play along with them, the guitar in their songs is always amazing to play along with... not too many bands that have so many amazing guitar parts!

Didn't get out of bed til 3pm today. Sounds awful, and it is, I suppose...

Erm, not much else to say I don't think, oh yeah, actually it's 6 books not 5 i've finished since being back at home. forgot about Emma , which is actually a really good book, so my bad!

Going to chat to people now , and enjoy the internet in all its splendour again!

    Hey

    Had a decent-ish day, didn't win the Euromillion, but I do have Irn-Bru so I'm happy : )

Our internet has been down for the past 3/4 days and I think it'll probably be down all summer, which is pretty annoying, not like I use the internet for much is it...grr

Jonny is back from australia! So i got to catch up with him and ed today, fun times, ed added my mum on facebook... and she accepted, i may have mentioned this , it's hilarious yet at the same time with ed you kind of are scared he will actually talk to her, which he has threatened to do... !!

Also, on saturday i was supposed to meet up with everyone else, except I was too much into reading my book, so it was 3am before i realised i needed to wake up at 10am the next day to make the meetup...needless to say at 12am i got a text on saturday telling me everyone was in TGI fridays... haha, im such a bad friend. But they somehow still love me, guess i can't complain about them then!

Spent a bit of time past few days planning what i would write in my novel, if i ever get that far, its going well, can't say i've ever planned what im going to write before, but i'ts actually helping get a clearer picture of what the story will be.

Also, i finished The Prince of Mist the other day, was quite good, and that makes it 5 books now since i've been back at home. Aiming for 20 this year and i think i'm at 13, so making good progress!

Still no job, not helped by the recent lack of internet, keep applying though, and changed my cv to no longer include any university stuff so it looks like i wouldn't leave whichever place took me on in September.

Made plans, well kinda, to visit both jonny and duncan in edinburgh when our freshers weeks all start. Jonnys starts around a week before mine does, so that will be cool, he has two beds in his new room apparently...which is pretty decent! Also looking forward to having a double bed while at uni! Beds in halls: awful. (I say this but in reality i did really get good use out of mine... haha)

I need to either get a set of heavier weights, or join a gym... dont really fancy joining a gym though, so we will see. might join the university one when i start 2nd year, £80 for a year is too good! Plus i will be able to make more use out of it since i will be more relaxed about uni in general. Should be a good year!

    Good night

    Hey.

So I had a pretty decent day, went to the dentist's and apparently i'm looking after my teeth pretty well, so that's a win, then went to see my granddad*...extremely boring but I guess that kind of thing always is.

Read a lot of a new book today, and finished it just about 5 minutes ago, it's called One Day, and it's really, really funny. Also kind of heart-warming, although the ending is kind of tragic. Apparently it's being made into a film this year with Anne Hathaway(win!) , and might be worth watching. Although since it's mainly centered around the romance betwen Emma and Dexter I bet they'll turn it into a romantic comedy and put too much emphasis on comedy in the film... grr!

So, now I have to choose my next book to start, although I might leave that for tomorrow. I really need to start job hunting again, I've been so lazy recently! When I got back from uni I was in such a good sort of routine. I applied everywhere and filled my days with meaningful stuff. Now i'm back into that old routine of sleep all day, and do nothing with myself. I hate it really, but it's just so easy to slip into.

So that's it really. Haven't boothed in a few days either i don't think so I will try and make sure I do tomorrow. Or today, since it's now 1am.
Annnnyway! See you later, have a good day
    xo

    * Just a thought , but , granddad seems like such a weird word when you're typing it up! The double consonant in the middle of it is weird enough, but a double d just...looks so wrong!

Not much interesting on the live feed, not that I use it much but I was curious tonight.

Also either it's my webcam, or my lights here, but if I look dead on into the webcam my picture becomes extremely dark, which is a bit irksome, but what can I do? i get a picture in the end anyway so it's not too bad.

Didn't get up to much today, changed the bed(which is always more of a task once you are doing it than you expect it to be!) , played some guitar, and somehow annoyed my brother by actually leaving him alone for a day...

I did however make some solid progress on The Shadow of the Wind, i'm probably one more sitting away from finishing this book, and I would recommend it. I expect a few twists and turns but I was definitely not ready for the incest thing... that was definitely a new idea to me.

After a while reading a book, and maybe it's just me,and it doesn't matter how much I love the book or how far I am into it, but the book itself becomes a bit like having a burden, that I get worried I'm not going to finish it, and that kind of thing really plays on your mind, whenever you have a spare moment and think, hey I could be reading my book now, why aren't I? Which leads to the book itself becoming more of a chore than a piece of enjoyment, so I end up giving up on it. So hopefully that doesn't happen with this one!

What else? Oh I made plans to go out with some more friends next weekend, we had to plan so far in advance since everyone in our group is kind of all over the place, and since Thursday's plans didn't suit everyone. I hope we get to see the Green Hornet this time, I quite like the guy in it, plus I've seen almost every other film out at the moment.

Worked my way through the guitar for dummies textbook i bought a while ago, the only thing I couldn't be bothered to learn really was the inside-outside chord movements kind of thing for jazz, I mean I love jazz but that just seemed so unnecessary for me just now. Going to hopefully get a new book soon that will teach me how to play guitar and at the same time how to play guitar with actual music- as in, clefs staffs, the usual stuff instead of the easier guitar tablature which i'm kind of used to now.

I really need sleep as well since I went to bed at 5am(I do this all the time, since I have a very warped sleeping pattern.) And also I was woken up at about 12 , although to be fair that was for a bacon sandwich...mmm!

Since it's Canada day(apparently) , Happy Canada day!

May your pancakes always be maple-syrup-coated!

And have some Diana Krall since she is Canadian, and also awesome

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NdJFmyLmMo&feature=feedf

This is a great great song... absolutely love it. And the guitar solo in the middle, in fact all the musicians she works with are pretty amazing.

    Night night

Just in, was in Aberdeen with friends watching Transformers 3. It was alright, wouldn't have been my first choice but I will live. Had a subway as well, it's weird that just a few years ago I wouldn't have known what Subway even sold... and now they're on what seems like every street corner...not that i'm really complaining, they're pretty good.

Apparently Paloma Faith is coming here soon, would like to see her but I don't think it's worth £40 alone when she's the only act that appeals to me, got some genuine rubbish singing with her, but I suppose they tried their best.

All this reading has made me want to start writing again, I've wanted to write a book for as long as I remember, and I will do it, and I will get one published one day. I promise. But for now, I am not sure I'm ready to write anything good. For one I think that a writer ought to have read a lot of good books before they start their own, and I still have a lot of reading to do, and also It seems to me that most good writers are fairly old, I think you have to have a lot of experience with life in order to be able to write good stories with heart.

Probably should be going to bed, but since I have nothing to wake up for tomorrow , I shall instead play some Final fantasy, why not?

    Night night

So, pretty uninteresting day to be honest, just applying for jobs, exercise, reading, the usual.Got a little final fantasy 7 in today though, nostalgia always wins you over when you're bored.

Been reading more of TSOTW, I can't tell if it's because it's so beautifully written, or because I have an irrational love of my own name(let's face it, Daniels' are awesome ; )) , but I find myself drawn to having had a lot of the same experiences or what not as the Daniel in the book. I've never had the type of thing he has with Clara, but I can definitely see myself in pieces of the events that transpire with Daniel and Bea. Food for thought I guess.

Tomorrow should be more fun, meeting some of my old friends in aberdeen for a film and meal, most probably pizza hut since it's so so easy...and because everyone loves pizza, right? Ha. Will be good to get a chance to catch up with everyone, and to get out of the house too!

    Have a good one!

"'Have you ever kissed a girl, Daniel?' My brain seized up; my mouth turned to sawdust. 'Well, you're still very young. But it's that same feeling, that first-time spark that you never forget. This is a world of shadows,Daniel, and magic is a rare asset."

So since I finished reading Emma two nights ago, I started last night on The Shadow of the Wind. Love this book already, in my first sitting last night i covered the first 14 chapters, and each one was as beautifully written and as intricate with intrigue as the last. I'm very tired tonight though, as I went to bed early last night and woke up today for some reason at 6.30 am... I think it was because of hayfever. I hate hayfever.

So today was spent doing a lot of things, mostly my daily routine, but I also had to go into town to pay rent , which wasn't a complete success, as I forgot my pin the first attempt... what an idiot I know. But anyways i got there in the end, and picked up two new books, not that I really need more... but I got The Prince of Mist, and One Day , which I wanted , and also got them on a special offer so I'm happy. Umm, about to read more of my book and then go to bed.
    Goodnight : ) xx

    Hi, how are you?

I haven't boothed in a long, long time!

So this will probably be pretty long once I'm finished explaining everything...

Anyway! I haven't boothed since late April. The reason for this is because, I realized something around late April that I didn't really want to realize, that I had tried to hide from myself. I won't go into it, since it's not really interesting but I just felt that, I had to do something sort of drastic to get it out of my system.

So what did I decide to do?
Simple, I decided I had to shut myself out from my friends for a while, go completely off Facebook, off Skype, off Dailybooth, until I felt I was ready to be myself again. Which I think, over the past couple days I have been very close to again, which makes me happy : )

Of course, without explaining anything to people and just going completely off radar, some people got worried, especially my close friends, which made me feel bad but once they realized I was okay and just needed time to myself, they were good about it.

And so I started doing the things I liked again. Did I want to stay in and watch all the episodes of Scrubs again even though I've seen them all like a hundred times and I can go line for line in most episodes? yes I did. So I did. And I loved it. Did I have a desire to finally start reading all the books I've collected and get back into reading? You bet! And I'm loving it. I finished reading Emma by Jane Austen last night, and I thoroughly loved it. At first, like most of Austen's novels I was sure that the pace was too slow for me, but, I persevered, and discovered a really great story, and actually, I quite Liked Emma Woodhouse!

FYI I discovered something really great last night, here's a link

    http://www.shelfari.com/danhands/shelf

I really really love this site, I'm addicted now! I have to mention @Gossipguy17 since I wouldn't have known about the site If I didn't see it on one of his old booths. I am not a creeper who goes around reading everyone's old booths, honest, his were just interesting to me when I was a little bored last night. Moving on...

Guitar. I was going to write just here that I got back into guitar. But that would be a lie, since I never really got out of it. But! What did happen was that I started teaching myself new things again. I started off with a couple scales, and started learning more theory again. So now I'm at the point where I can sit with my guitar and mess around while listening to other songs in the background(If I know what key they are in, that is!)
I love messing around along with 'You and me are gone' by Jamie Cullum, and 'Temptation' by Diana Krall especially : )

That's another thing, I got quite into jazz music as well, and I really have to recommend Diana Krall and Madeleine Peyroux , go listen to them if you haven't already!

On the subject of what I'm teaching myself just now on guitar, well specifically on guitar I'm kind of blank. I think I need to memorize more scale patterns so that will be what I start next. But on the music theory side I'm trying to develop my listening by ear, and if this in any way appeals to you I really suggest this : http://www.miles.be/software/34-functional-ear-trainer-v2 It's free, and although it's kind of repetetive I feel like I'm getting a little better, just have to keep at it I suppose : P

Money problems are all but gone I think, and the flat is looking great, although of course once I move in properly I'll be able to make it more my own : D Excited for September now!

University exams went fine, and since I haven't said this yet, unlike every bloody person I know who likes to repeat it 10 times a day.. first year is over! woop!

Hmm, what else, oh, well, right now, I am at home near Aberdeen, and should probably still be here until September when I go back to Stirling.

Think I have summed up everything pretty well so far, not much more to say...

Hope you had a good day : )

Just in, had a fun night playing boardgames with the shazam people!

also briefly met Aristea's sister on the way out, seemed nice : )

Played the Battlestar Galactica board game, can't say I know anything about the show, and it did start out looking a little bit complicated, but actually it was quite good fun! Specially since the two girls suspected each other the whoel way through, leaving me to be sneaky the whole game and they didn't notice : P

Hope you're having a good night!
