the regular detergent goes in the first slot,
and the fabric softener/bleach is optional.
soo if you want your clothes soft, put fabric softener in the second...
    and same with bleach ..

fabric softener comes in a mini container, soo go to like walmart or something and in the detergent aisle, there should be a bottle that somewhat resembles detergent that says "fabric softener" on it..
and for the bleach, you can use anything.

go to the clothes-washy stuff in the store.
if you want soft stuff, get the bottle that says softener.
if you want bleach, find the bottle that says bleach.......

Can I use, like, pour a big old bottle of Clorox in that slot? Or is there special laundry bleach?

Detergent = You already know what this is. This is the "soap" to clean your cloths. I personally use "Tide Total Care".

Softener = (optional) This is the liquid version of the fabric softener sheets you use in your dryer, and is automatically added to the wash by the machine. It softens the fabric of your cloths and eliminates static cling. With your type of washer, you put this in at the same time as the detergent. I use "Ultra Downy Total Care".

Bleach = (optional) This is a liquid that helps remove stain from your cloths, visible or not, and is automatically added to the wash by the machine. With your type of washer, you also put this in at the same time as the detergent. I use "Clorox 2 Color Safe Bleach".

    There you go. :-)

fabric softener is for well.. softening fabric? but we don't use it.. if you use it in towels it makes them less absorbant. we only use bleach for towels and stuff that needs to be sanitized. yes, we bleach all towels, color or not. because if we don't, they smell funny. any kind of bleach will do, but clorox is the best brand. As for fabric softener, I have no clue.
so yeah, that's what those other two are for.
detergent is obvious... that's where the soap goes. granulated or liquid.
if you ever use bleach, only use a little bit. like 2 tablespoons for the a large load of towels.

Hmm I'll try and help. It sees you already have the detergent part down. Fabric softener, I really don't use it all that much. But good ones are Downy and Snuggle. I rather use Dryer sheets. Throw them in while the clothes are in the dryer. Bleach is just for the whites. Although they do make color safe bleach that won't damage colors. I like using Tide and Gain as my detergents <3 As for the detergents and fabric softener. You can put them in the beginning and the machine will take care of the rest. At least that's how I do it. Hope I helped :)

dont worry about the other 2 slots if you only use detergent then just use that the others are for softening your clothes or getting stains out of them.

Ya don't really need bleach, but when ur washing clothes and bedsheets, etc., you should use fabric softener, it makes a huge difference. Since you have a HE (High Efficiency) washer, you have to make sure u buy HE labled softner, and detergent. Then just follow the directions on the bottle. In my opinion, downey has the best softner. Hope this helps!
