Day of the black sun! :O

Hello sort of solar eclipse. I'm Carleen, and I've been dying to see you.
    Pretty neat, huh?
Unfortunately, from my location it didn't show the full annular ring thing.
But it was still extremely cool nonetheless.
Since Eli is a farm kid, we used welding helmets to watch it so our eyes didn't burn.
    I pretended I was a transformer.

#question Did you watch the eclipse? Show me pictures if you have them!

Study for Geometry final... or upload on dailybooth...
Clearly, you know what I chose.

Graduation was yesterday, and I did not cry!
    *pats self on back*
But Eli's family probably thinks I have no heart whatsoever. Oops.
    Oh well!
I'm ranked 1st (or second, I'm not really sure) in my class, so I got the high honor of passing out programs for the ceremony.
Eli is... 3rd? Yeah, 3rd in his class, so he got to give a speech.
He's in a ton of trouble, because he did not give the speech that he had pre-approved by our principal.
Instead, he pulled one out of his sleeve on stage.
It consisted of 13 things (one for every year of schooling) that he learned.
For example, "#5, this is for you underclassmen, excelling in school is great, but aim for 5th ranked, you won't have to give a speech."
    Man, I love him.

Toooooday I ate a Fuji with my family.
It's one of those Japanese steak houses where they cook everything on a grill right in front of you.
    It was super cool, really.
The chefs are so silly. Silly chefs.

    Tell me about your weekend?

Life right now is so bittersweet, it's unreal.

Eli is graduating in 3 days. I cannot even believe it.
The amounts of tears I'm going to cry will be capable of producing a town consuming flood, and that's just down right embarrassing.
Today was his last day, leaving me to have 4 more terribly boring and lonely days of school without him.
I feel pathetic, I really do. He's only a mere couple miles away.
It's just the realization that I will never see his face in a school hallway ever again. It kind of hurts.

Then there's the whole college several hours away thing. I'll deal with that wound later.

But on the brightside, I'm kind of in love.

I recently finished reading Life Expectancy.
Basically, it's about a lot of violence, 5 terrible days, and clowns.
I get really anxious reading such books, and often find myself not being able to read too much because it might make me have a panic attack with all the constant edge of your seat moments.
I finished it in a few days, nonetheless, and it is Carleen approved.

    Read any good books lately?

    I, am so hungry.
I've been living off of cereal and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
I really need to learn how to cook.

    Today it was warm.

Eli made me a timeline of our love story.
It basically had everything that I thought he didn't remember because he's a guy.
    (Sorry for stereotyping men)

Speaking of Eli, he lent me his most recent article of Rolling Stone and it had a whole page on Nate Ruess who is extrememly handsome and witty and charming. Yay Fun. <3

    Yeah so I'm bored.
And I'm rereading The Fault in Our Stars.
And I'm waiting for my boyfriend to get done working.
And I desperately want some pizza from Wave Pizza this very moment.

That's about it. It feels wrong not saying more, but really that is all.

OH! I know, give me some music suggestions.
    I'll love you long time.

    Howdy followers/livefeed.
Here's some ol prom pictures for ya from Saturday.
    I had a splendid time.
It was probably the best prom I've ever attended, considering I actually went with my boyfriend.
It just kind of made every slow dance feel.. fantastic. Because I had someone I love in my arms.
    Cheesy, I know.

Tell me about your proms! And if you're out of school, tell me about past ones! And if you're anti-prom, tell me about your favorite song.

Gasp! I'm boothing more than once a week.

I'm going to talk about prom, because I know you don't hear enough about it.
I went to a prom a week ago, and it was okay.
Minus all the grinding and what not.
Grinding is for people that don't know how to dance, and it is public dry humping.
    Awkward.
The last song played was We Are Young by Fun.
Don't get me wrong, I'm just as mad as the next guy that it's on the radio now, but man, that was something.
Everyone Sang at the top of their lungs, and it echoed through out the gym.
And it sounded... good. It sounded really good. I'm not even kidding. It just kind of rocked to have so many people know the lyrics to such a good song.

Tomorrow is another prom I am attending with my significant other.
I'm kind of excited to get all dolled up and go with someone I actually like to hold hands with and all that good stuff.
He doesn't look too shabby in a tux, either.

    Left: Me now
    Right: Me last summer

It's crazy how fast time flies by. It's almost Summer again. Wow.

I've been in a huge movie kick lately.
This happens periodically, no need to worry. It'll go away soon I'm sure.
Anyway, I just watched one called Submarine.
It's one of my new favorite movies.
    I'm serious, it's in the top 5 I'd say.
    I loved it so much.
The soundtrack, the humor, the conflict.
It's set in Wales, and I just love... I don't know. The gloominess of the outdoors.
    I'm weird, sue me.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.
It gave me one of those after movie feelings.
You know that feeling you get when finishing an incredible movie?
It makes you want to go out and freaking.. I don't know.. do something!
I want to do something significant!
But alas, tis just a Tuesday night.

@halfahero I also watched Brick recently. Mainly out of my deep burning love for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and also because it occured to me that you suggested it a very long time ago. And for the record, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very, very good.

^from the movie. In fact, all the songs in Submarine are by Alex Turner. I like when movies do that. It makes the soundtrack flow so much better.

    This is how it works

    You're young until you're not

    You love until you don't

    You try until you can't

    You laugh until you cry

    You cry until you laugh

    And everyone must breathe

    Until their dying breath

    Today, I had an epiphany.

I never thought reading the Julius Caesar play by Shakespeare would actually be so mind blowing.

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.”

…. The fault… the fault in our stars! That’s a book, and ding ding ding I have read it! I now know the source of the title, and that makes me feel happy. Atleast, I’m assuming that’s the source.

    ALSO.

Anyone that has read this play and the Hunger Games probably have made connection that there’s approximately a zillion names that are derived from the play in the Hunger Games.

That was cool, yeah, but it completely just hit me today that they both have something in common. They take the power DOWN.

Caesar is killed, the Capital is destroyed.

It makes me wonder if that’s why the author named so many people corresponding with the Roman characters.

Even some of the characters have matching personalities. Like Caesar, for example. Everyone loved Julius Caesar. Caesar Flickerman was also greatly adored by everyone.

Cinna was on Katniss’s side against the Capital. Cinna in the play is part of the group that takes down Caesar.

I just thought I’d share my thoughts. I haven’t finished reading the play, but once I do, I’m sure there will be even more connections.

Dear friends, I made a meal by myself last night. (with some help from @DudeWheresMyCar via skype call)
"But Carley, that's just spaghetti, even a toddler could make that."
Quiet you, it was an accomplishment for me.
I felt the need to go out of my way and being an awesome girlfriend by making dinner for Eli.
All turned out well, and we drank milk out of the fancy wine glasses my mother keeps stowed away for special occasions.
I even wrote out an invitation and stuck it in his locker.
It basically said, "You have been invited to dine with the one and only Carleen Elizabeth this fine Tuesday night. It will be a formal event, so come dressed to the nines. yadda yadda." (it didn't actually say yadda yadda)

On another note, does anyone remember Bowling For Soup?
That was my all time favorite band back in the day.
I just found out their coming to my state! On... Thursday.
A week day? Really? Why must the universe be so cruel?
I just wanted to go, and, you know.. reminisce.

Speaking of music, I went to see Say Anything last Saturday.
Max Bemis is so great live.
What's even better is that I liked an opening band.
I mean REALLY liked an opening band.
Their called the Front Bottoms and they are the coolest people ever.
Listen to their music now now now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbT6qUpROnI

@halfahero I think you would like them. ^
