    YOU ARE WHAT YOU READ.

And I said to myself "I won't take another Card's book before a while, I need a break from Ender" and I come back from the library with 2 unknown books and THE EXILE about Ender....!!!
    I love contradicting myself sometimes.

    Hamster tomorrow hopefully !
And yes, I love making funny faces... <3

    YOU ARE WHAT YOU READ.

After recently discovering "Ender's game" that left me knackered at the beginning and achy in the spine... I continued reading some books which didn't leave me indifferent.

I read Orson Scott Card's "Speaker for the dead" and "First meetings", and soon continuing with "Xenocide", although I try to alternate books not to be stuck in one style...
His books are very interesting in the way they make you think of human nature and how we handle life, it's a little philosophical. I'm not too fond of his style, or maybe it's just because I'm allergic to religion and he includes them a lot as something important in his characters life. But maybe it's a criticism of blind faith, I don't know...

On a lighter note I was picking some funny stories of Elliott Hester's "Plane insanity" everyday -- as subway & bus trip is a bit boring, and I'm rarely in a good mood to go to work...
I finished it pretty fast although I was careful to read only one story at a time and stop to think about it and smile at people's stupidity.
I try to take my time when I read something pleasant, so I have the opportunity to 'digest it and let it mature in my brain', you know. I can't explain that in english very well, but I'm sure you get the picture.

There's another book that gives me shivers nowadays.
    Will Self's "Cock & Bull".
It is really disturbing and I get nauseous each time I open it.
Surprisingly it's effect on me is stronger than while reading "American psycho" for example. But I keep going because I'm curious and I don't give up on a book each time it gets difficult. The writing is very fluent and not hard to understand, but it's gross. I don't find any other word to describe it.

I don't really know what to read now... I'm a bit fed up for the moment.
I was curious to start Russell Banks' new novel, but finally I'll take a break and finish "All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum on my way to work. It's easy and fun, and inspiring me to become a better man [it won't be easy as I'm pretty bad at this].

I also try to watch more movies and documentaries and I suppose my next post would be about this...

I doubt people would read my post, or find it interesting or comment it, but I'm not doing it for others. I express myself, nothing more, nothing less, and if I reach some people then I'm glad I did.

    YOU ARE WHAT YOU LIKE

On the cover of his latest CD, Jay Brannan says :

"Someone once told me that 'confidence is overrated'.
He probably doesn't remember saying it, and he probably wouldn't believe me if I told him he did.

    I am SCARED,
    I am INSECURE,
And I only believe in myself on the really good days.

I don't think you have to believe in yourself in order to do nice things in life.
Just do the best that you can as often as you are able.

And maybe on occasion you'll look back and be shocked by how much of a person you can be."

    ---
Those words just lifted me up. It was very inspirational. I feel the same and I don't believe in myself either. But seeing that Jay might feel insecure while he is awesome made me realize that maybe I do have some good traits... I hope.
And while reading this I was thinking of my brother Jamie, and I said to myself "this text is made for him too, if only he believed in life."
Jay is my hero, and an example that I would like to follow. If he said that, then it must be true.
People, friends, strangers... keep your head up.
    x

PS. Thank you Daddyo for the nice gift. <3
The CD is awesome [but I don't expect less from Jay anyway].

YOU ARE NOT ALWAYS WHAT YOU READ.

I just came back from the library with few different books.

    - An autobiograhy by Elliott Hester [I actually have no idea what to expect]
    - Another Orson Scott Card sci-fi book [to continue Ender's game]
    - 2 french classic literature novels by George Sand
    - A Will Self novel, I like him he's completely crazy
    - A psychology essay about development

Now the challenge would be to actually read them !!!
I'm already proud that I took the effort to go there after the past bad experiences that I've had...

I also have to finish Robert Fulghum's kindergarten one, and some essays and autobiographies or the 10 other Card books on my laptop to look at... Time will tell if I prefer to procrastinate on the Sims or do something constructive with my life. Right now my brain is like a melted emmental cheese...

I want to start writing again, but no one would be interested.

    YOU ARE WHAT YOU READ.

Patrick Poivre d'Arvor is a famous french reporter/journalist/presenter/writer and this is the first book he wrote about his daughter Solenn while she was in hospital when she was 16.
Actually it's a journal of letters he writes to her almost everyday about how he feels about her illness, or about her in general and how much he loves her.
It was very touching. I enjoyed it very much and I can't wait to read his other book he wrote two years later after she committed suicide.
I admire this man even more.

I ran in the snow, it was just amazing. I was happy because we were driving to the South. I was meowing in the car.
When I ran I felt like flying.
    I am happy.

Picture taken by @Nighty74 on our way to Kenn [and to my parents].
I love small vacations, even when they have a price.

Tomorrow after spending time with my parents, I see my brother and my baby nephew, and then with my cousins we go to restaurant. But for today, I'm having chilling times with my international friends, and I find it very funny that we are all 3 from different countries and we take it for granted to be in the same room [being asocial on our laptops]

    YOU ARE WHAT YOU READ.

    Not always!
My friend Kenn (you probably knew him as Trekkenn here before he left DB) forgot his "Ender's game" book in my room last time he visited me, and I knew it was his favorite book because his nickname is Kenn Ender... Anyway I wanted to read it before giving it back to him next week.

I used to like Sci-Fi when I was younger (but not as much as fantasy) and I would have never picked this book by choice.
As always my curiosity won the battle and I opened it...

I didn't like the beginning much because since the first pages it was litterally hurting me, I was aching in my spine reading about this boy suffering during a small moment, it left me exhausted, physically.
I didn't like all the bad words and insults in it, but I understood they were justified later on.
Once I had entered the book, I liked it a little, but most of all I wanted to KNOW what was going to happen to him!!!
The end was amazing, I really enjoyed it very much, and now I'm ready to read all the books from this series.

They are filming a movie about it right now with my mate Jimmy Jax, and other actors I don't know much. I can't wait to see the movie but I know it will not be as good as the book, and even less since they can't portray a kid from 6 to 12 with the same actor...

So basically, I would recommend it to anyone.
But I stick to The Belgariad as my favorite book series about a kid saving the world (it's fantasy though).
