"Sugar Rush" by Julie Burchill
2004

15-year-old Kim is horrified when her dad tell sher she's got to leave her posh school and go to infamous Ravendene Comprehensive. How will she survive in this teenage jungle?

But then Lim meets gorgeous Maria Sweet - better known as Sugar. Leaving her good-girl past far behind, Kim finds herself falling under Sugar's spell - and asking herself the question: has she fallen in love with her best friend?

This brilliant book explores teenage sexuality and its fluidity in the city where that sort of thing happens on a daily basis - Brighton. Against this bohemian backdrop, the characters shine and you emphathise with poor Kim as she comes to terms with what's happening with her.

You may have seen the TV series, but try the book and see how the story really goes.

Psst, typo second main paragraph, first line. It reads "... Lim meets gorgeous Maria Sweet..." Just so you know. :P

^Just adding to @the_who_ru's list, there is a typo in the first main paragraph - 'her dad tell sher'. I had to point this out since I've been making so many! Thank goodness someone else is doing it now. :)

I saw parts of the show but it did not really draw me in; I like the concept so if the book is different then I'll probably give it a read, I have tomorrow off to go book buying anyway.
