This is going to be long. I'm going to say something weird. Something that might not make a lot of sense, but please bear with me to the end.
The way I can see things with... well, most religions really, but specifically Christianity is this; The Bible is supposed to be the de faco word of God transcribed by man.
But there is one small problem. Unless you believe absolutely, 100% in the bible, from creation, to gay stoning, to racism/slavery, to the flood and Noah's ark, to killing those that don't believe your faith [which even Jesus said], to that Jesus existed and was the prophet of God [and NOT the literal son, and I will get to that late if I can] and every single thing stated throughout then I say you are not a Christian. You can be a *theist*, sure, but NOT a Christian.
I can tell that a lot of you are probably confused and angry right now. Let me explain.
The entire reason for specifically being a Christian is the Bible. Yes, yes, you might have had personal experience, seen/talked to God, whatever, but to believe Christianity SPECIFICALLY it must be because of the only evidence for it, right? Ok. Lets move on.
If you do not believe, that the Bible is the de facto word of God, you have just now admitted that you know that the Bible, is in part, false. Ok?
Well you've just caused a huge problem. You have just said that the one proof for your faith is fallible. That it can in fact be wrong. That doesn't sound bad at first right? I mean, sure it said the earth was flat, the universe revolved around the Earth, but that's ok, they were written 2000 odd years ago. But what if someone else doesn't like the stoning gay bits? I mean, it's inhumane isn't it? To kill someone for their non-changeable sexual preference? That's like killing all people who like pink and not blue.
That's the point. Once one person says ''oh, we can ignore that, because I know it's false [for whatever reason]'' you can ignore ALL of it because what you've done is said that ''I know someone said this was the word of God, but I don't agree with it, so I will CHANGE it''.
And here's the point. The second you change even ONE thing, it becomes something that is NOT the Bible.
You couldn't go into Harry Potter and change that they used wands into staffs because everyone would say ''you are not J.K. Rowling, SHE wrote that and she wanted that in there.''
The second you inflict personal bias on something like the rules of God, you are no longer agreeing that there is a Judeo-Christian god, but your own personal god that now 'happens' to believe what you WANT them to believe.
If I said I'm a Christian, but I think that God loves homosexuals, thinks killing is great, wants us all to rape babies and the eat nothing but rocks you'd call me crazy and wrong because the BIBLE SAYS OTHERWISE. To say something that isn't in there is nothing but even purer fantasy than that in the Bible, and nothing but you making up bullshit.
So basically. Anyone who does not believe, 100% that your holy text is correct, with absolutely no errors, metaphors, is not a Christian at all, but just a very similar theist.
Except there's another problem. I'm not sure ANY of you are Christians. Not really. Unless you ALSO believe in the Apocrypha texts [removed in the 16th-century because they were disliked by the uppers of the church by vote, and later mistakenly thought of as false] then you really haven't read all of the Bible at all and, although you didn't know better, aren't really technically Christian either thanks to previous people STOPPING you being one. God never changed his mind, *you guys* did.
Please debate and try to prove me wrong.
Also, this is NOT a dispute as to the validity of religion or it's 'truths' but a debate as to what makes you a true Christian. If you say anything else I will most likely ignore you.
''People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody *knew* the earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago everybody *knew* the earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago you *knew* people were alone on this planet. Imagine what you're know tomorrow.'' - K, Men in Black.July 6th, 2010

~Secret Time~
I have never had my heart truly broken, and I dread the day it finally happens.
I also I fear that I will not be able to truly love someone until it happens.February 20th, 2010
